Re: Boxing thread
What do you think the real chances of a Fury / AJ fight are? Very slim. There would be promotional obstacles in both US and UK, then you have to assume both fighters and their teams want that fight. With mandatories and such, I think you will see Joshua Usyk before you see him fight Fury or Wilder.

Re: Boxing thread
You can’t be harsh on Joshua there
I picked Ruiz to win but quite clearly he wasn’t there to fight tonight, in a world championship fight. Disgusting.

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
The talent pool of bowlers seems fairly poor right now.
Australia came over for the Ashes and were able to not play Starc and Hazelwood at times as they had bowlers to suit conditions.
We’ll probably have Anderson and Broad running in with the new ball over in Australia in a couple of years.

Re: Boxing thread
Ruiz is never getting the decision at the AJ pity party extravaganza - he’ll have to KO him to win the fight.
I think it will be a more cautious fight, with Ruiz getting a late stoppage.

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
Also, who should make way for Anderson? Should be get back in .... given our propensity for poor batting, at least Archer can get runs and we can’t drop a batter, does Broad deserve to make way??? It will be Woakes for Anderson if he is fit Woakes won’t be scoring many runs against a high class att...

Everytime I watch the highlights I’m still expecting Lyon to collect the ball and whip the bails off for that run out
What an amazing day of cricket. Humble pie time for myself, I thought we were dead and buried after lunch on day two.

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
At least there can be no papering over the cracks after this, losing the Ashes inside the first 3 tests at home is disgusting but not completely unexpected Root will have to step down as captain, Bayliss will be gone and the selection of players will need to be reassessed Langer, Lehmann, Waugh, Pon...

You could pick the batting order out of a hat and I doubt it would make much difference

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
Bat once and bat big now, can the batsman apply themselves and do it. If we bat a minimum of 4/5 sessions we’ve probably won the Test

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
Yep, 5 day cricket is meant to be the ultimate challenge. You have to show the skills and grit to adapt to situations. It’s not comparable to other sports.
Root, Bayliss and co sending in a crocked 37 year old into a test match is a problem of their own making

A ‘secondary’ blow to the head of a player in a concussed state could be fatal
I think it’s a good rule. The bigger issue and focus should be on how the Aussies let Smith out to bat again following that blow from Archer

Re: England Cricket Summer 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes
I think apart for swapping Stokes and Buttler around, the line up will stay the same
Unless you want to give someone a debut, they probably have to admit this is the best they got and just stick with it for 3 more tests. If Curran comes in at some point he’ll add more depth.

Unsung hero for me today was Leach
11-3-19-1 1.73 economy rate
Offered the type of control we were desperate for at crucial times in the first test
Tomorrow is going to be fascinating. It's the hope that kills you...
