This isn't debating solutions GPH, surely?! We don't have the facts to decide half the questions or suggestions we raise, i.e. the toilets/kitchens issue.

Re: Stratford 2012: the running track [POLL]

Isn't one way to get around the problem of people of different heights on a shallow rake is to simply make the seats more reclined? It can make a big difference. It's easy to demonstrate, take two rectangles of different sizes, sit them upright next to each other, and measure the difference from eac...

Re: Stratford 2012: the running track [POLL]

What I don't understand about this bowl shape is that there is so much wasted space between the athletics fans and the tracks both top and bottom. Those stands could be permanently altered to give a shallower rake and bring the stands to just next to the running track. Then, behind the goal posts, t...

Re: Stratford 2012: the running track [POLL]

Don't get me wrong, I would love Champions League success, I would love to have a whole team of internationals, but I don't want us to sell our souls to do so. We are not plastic fans, we are not glory hunters...we bleed claret and blue for better or for worse. Simply put, moving to a huge stadium ...

Re: Stratford 2012: the running track [POLL]

There is still not enough reliable information to make an informed decision about this, and really, as the poll stands, it's already a no-brainer that people will say no to a running track that simply circles the track and is covered by turf in winter. But other possibilities exist, such as sinking ...

Re: Manager 13: the poll

Kinnell. So Grant's management track record is 3/4 of a season with Chelsea, 1/2 a season with Pompey and clubs in Israel. I ask myself what G&S find so impressive about that that they think he could be our man I think you do Grant a great disservice by being so dismissive of his achievements. ...

Re: Manager 13: the poll

I plugged for Grant, though I'd be happy with Hughes. My fear with Hughes though is that he would be more confrontational with the Board, while Grant would have the diplomat's touch. Grant is an excellent manager, tactically sound, very well-respected and knows the Prem. He's worked with Clarke and ...

Re: Don't sack Zola

I dont think we were in serious danger of going down until G&S came in and team morale dropped, for me thats when we started looking truely pathetic and it started looking like a real possibility. I disagree. Many of the players came out and said that the time before the takeover was a time of ...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

I'm still lost why moving to the OS helps us stay up nd the finances in the short-term? :? I forgot to answer this. By touting a move to the OS, it gives players we are trying to attract to help in the relegation battle a sense that this club is at least going somewhere now, and after a year where ...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

Exactly the same happened when Eggy came in. Nearly everyone took the b***ocks in, clambered for success and a 60k stadium (Now it's 80k!) , and those who objected (like myself) kopped a ton of flack. It's a bit dubious to draw comparisons with Eggy's lot and the promises they gave. We had just acq...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

Does this not therefore mean that we are in just as precarious position with no ground and small debt as we are in large debt but with our ground? I would have thought not more precarious, because a small debt is easier to service than a large debt (****ing huge to be precise). Not only that, but m...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

How does moving to the OS in say 2013-2014 at the earliest help us until then? Unless you are proposing we sell the ground and get the cash in upfront  You seem to have your mind made up about G&S? Selling the ground and cash up front, now that made me laugh. Everything else seems to hav...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

A good article that sums it all up From an article in Last Novembers Guardian -: One source dismissed the idea as "the economics of the madhouse". Mad economics from the government point of view, which is that they spend half a billion, then another 100m and then virtually give the stadium...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

I think we could be in worse hands. Yourself? We could certainly be in worse hands. :) We could be in even more debt now. But my gut instinct is that they will do okay. Wheelers and dealers sounds about right. They know how to run a tight ship. But, Sullivan had shares in Spuds a few years ago and ...

Converting to a permanent 50,000 seater football stadium, whilst no doubt possible, will not be a small nor cheap job. ...is the right answer. Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

It's not our stadium NL. It's not being designed with WHU in mind, it's not even being designed with football in mind. That is a problem. But not necessarily insurmountable. At the moment, it's just an option, which may or may not suit us at the end of the day. Gold didn't rule out developing the B...

Moving from the Boleyn, no problem. Agree with Ted F's comments from earlier in the thread re:the Memorial Ground. But selling the Boleyn to rent somewhere else? Big f***ing problem, and something I'm very surprised has not been mentioned more. 'Renting' makes it sound pretty temporary, as if it wo...

Re: Stratford 2012 [POLL]

My feeling is that the new owners are thinking first about the proceeds of a sale of UP and have realised that the renting of the Olympic stadium is a way of achieving this. They like to paint themselves as West Ham fans first and businessmen second, but we would be niaive to think they would not h...
