Re: Dimitri Payet vs Lucas Paqueta

Jesus .... I'm agreeing with Chavs :smiler: Payet was the best player I've seen in a West Ham shirt. He might not have been that great before he joined and after he left but, for one season, he was up there with Ronaldo and Messi. A quick edit ... the best players make the rest of their teammates lo...

Re: Sayings That the Old folks used

"Who pulled your chain?" ...... when you interrupted a conversation with your elders and betters. "Gordon Bennett!" ..... polite exclamation of surprise/disgust. I never really got to the bottom of this one as I the only Gordon Bennett that I've ever heard of was the Australian g...

Re: ✍ Welcome to West Ham, Said Benrahma

I think the real problem is that he seems to have lost the confidence of his team mates. He was often in acres of space last night and it was noticeable that neither Aguerd nor Emerson would give him the ball unless there was absolutely no other alternative. My biggest problem with him is lack of co...

Re: West Ham United V Olympiacos : match thread

Last night was my second visit to the London Stadium and, I seem to have broken my curse as we didn't lose 5-1 this time. The opposition came with a very good plan which was to play the entire game within ten yards of the half way line, stop us playing through the middle and force us to attack down ...

Re: Brentford v West Ham Utd: Match Thread

For me, the Antonio and Benrahma Laurel and Hardy moment was where the wheels fell off. Any of our other nine players, including Areola would have buried that ..... as would 99.9% of people who have ever played football in their lives. They were absolutely ****ing useless. Fornals did OK but, for cr...

Re: World War Two (and all that)

My uncle fought in Burma and he too never bought anything Japanese related for the rest of his life. He was usually a mild mannered chap, but any mention of the Japanese would see a different side to him, he never forgave what he saw. I still have his Burma Star, which he gave me before he died. My...

Re: Your teachers

I must be one of the fortunate ones. I only had a problem with one of my teachers and that was largely down to her inability to actually teach maths. I had the misfortune to have her in both the second and third year before getting a decent teacher for O Levels. I then did Pure Maths A level and, at...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Results matter, success is based on results. There are no points for style. But any business needs to make best use of it's assets. I don't think Moyes is making best use of the assets at his disposal at the moment. We have players capable of motoring in 6th gear and he is playing them in a 4th gea...

Re: West Ham Utd vs Everton: match thread

One of those games where we could've played until next Sunday and still not scored. Not one single player comes out of that with any credit. Everton were exactly what we expected - well-drilled and hard to break down. Liverpool needed VAR to overcome them last week, we weren't quite so lucky. Paque...

Re: Aston Villa vs West Ham United: match thread

Last season we had the problem that Moyes let Rice do exactly what he wanted and this season he's doing the same with Paqueta. This is fine if the player turns up and plays out of his skin. Unfortunately, today, Paqueta was crap! He couldn't pass wind and, rather than going back to basics, he carrie...

I think I'm gonna have to write to the Governor and my Congresswoman and Senator. I've noticed that all these idiots have: a) a ball cap b) a beard c) shades I think shaving should be compulsory, shades should only be used one sunny days and, if you haven't taken your cap off within two seconds of e...

Re: West Ham United vs Newcastle United: match thread

Shocking refereeing but, overall, a fair result. We let them have too much of the ball for the first half hour of the second half and I think the reality is that if we're only gonna make an effort for an hour rather than ninety minutes, then we'd better start scoring threes and fours and put the gam...

Re: West Ham United vs Newcastle United: match thread

My first and, so far, only visit to the LS was for this fixture last season and, despite the scoreline, we didn't play that badly. Three of their goals were just stupid, individual errors that you wouldn't expect any professional footballer to make, let alone three of them in the same game. I think ...

Can I answer the question in two years time when I'd swap Benrahma for Payet?

Failing that, Devonshire for Benrahma.

Re: Where will we finish?

If nobody gets injured and we can maintain decent form until the knockout phase of the Europa League, I think we'll do quite well. Sixth or seventh. Although, I don't particularly like us doing it. I suspect we'll end up taking a fairly relaxed attitude to the domestic cups. We've already got a ****...

Re: ✍ Pablo Fornals

Looked pretty miserable when he was deservedly subbed off tonight. Now we have Alvarez and JWP, he's not even 'first sub' anymore and I think he's one of those players that, the less he plays, the worse he plays. You have to think that he's unlikely to be here after the January window. It's a pity r...

He looks to be a bit good. Reads the game very well and always seems to be in the right place. Excellent debut and I'm much less worried about Zouma getting injured than I was.

Re: ✍ Alphonse Areola

Today's might have been the best performance by a West Ham keeper since Rob Green's against Arsenal during the Great Escape season. I don't think he was far away from stopping Gross' goal either and he really would have deserved a clean sheet.
