Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I see Ex on his podcast (apparently) suggested Oggy will be offered a new one year contract, on reduced wages. Unless Nathan leaves where does a new CH fit in? I think any new CH signing should instantly be first-choice. I think we're desperate in that position tbh. Regardless of Aguerd leaving or ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Should Paqueta leave and we want to bring in a CAM to keep Kudus on the left, isn’t Daichi Kamada out of contract at Lazio? His spell at Lazio hasn’t gone well, but if you can recapture his form from his Eintracht Frankfurt days….. He is just one year older and plays in the same sort of positions. ...

I’m sure I read earlier tonight that Ex is claiming Ben Johnson looks close to an agreement to join Palace in the summer.

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips

Despite the atrocious start, Phillips still has a platform to become a truly inspired and successful signing - with 3 huge games vs Newcastle, Spurs and B Leverkusen.

Just imagine if he starts in those 3 games and finally comes of age...

Can he do it?

Re: (WHU related) FA CUP Lack of semi final appearances.

It's a ***** record but I'm convinced we're cursed with cup draws. Whenever the team is doing well and looking a good bet for a cup run, we usually draw Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal or Spurs. And when we do beat them - and tbf, we've had our share of great cup wins over the last 30 years - we usually ...

Re: Where will we finish?

Just wondering how costly these injury time VAR decisions we've had go against us will be. The Areola 'foul' vs Sheff Utd for the McBurnie pen. (Plus the arguable shove on Bowen right after). The missed handball vs Burnley right at the death. The farcical near 6-min check vs Villa. That's potentiall...

The fact that that Chelsea and Newcastle are ranked to have the easiest run-ins doesn't make that reading any easier!

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Like most European leagues, the Bundesliga is gradually being turned into a farmers league by the financial muscle of the EPL. Most have three decent teams, plus the rest, the also rans. Leverkusen have to a certain extent broken that mold this season, but theyve had to come from behind in both leg...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Leverkusen have got a few players who've been heavily linked to us in the recent past: Jonathan Tah, Patrick Schick and Adam Hlozek.

In fact, weren't there murmurings we'd be in for Boniface in Jan, as unrealistic as that sounded?

Are Bayer Leverkusen having something of a breakout/surprise season, or are they a genuine powerhouse? Never heard of them as German heavyweights prior to this season.

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

I'm just ****ing relieved to have avoided Liverpool. Nothing worse than drawing another English side in Europe, especially one you rarely beat! Draw still seems a bit suspect though - notice that Liverpool defo got the 'weaker' side of the draw. Can't see Atalanta, Marseille or Benfica causing them ...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Liverpool would just be the worst draw ever. Not only would we be very unlikely to beat them, it deprives us of a big, historical European adventure. I'd be excited to face any of the other clubs. Problem is, for years, we seem to get absolutely ***** cup draws whenever things really matter. Can rar...

If we’re to go out, let’s at least have a historical European tie. Not play a bunch of ***** we meet twice a year already.

And they both have the owners who can simply write off losses if the proposed 85% percentage of revenue rules come in. It really is let the rich get richer and screw the rest. Let’s take us and Newcastle. Currently the revenues are not hugely disproportionate and under the current system it is a re...

I’m far too young to remember his grand-dad but can remember Kenny Brown Jnr as a back up left back / utility man under Bonds as manager. Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

These rumours of Bruno going to Man City, aren't Newcastle theoretically a richer club than Man City now?

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely hate for Newcastle to become another super-power, but these tightened FFP/PRP rules are definitely working in stopping others from breaking the top.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

It's too late in the day to negotiate with Paqueta. - We should have done it last summer Extra 75k a week and release clause of £100m would have increased our return on him. Why's it too late? And besides how would we have negotiated a new improved deal with Paqueta last summer when a) Man City wer...
