Re: Coronavirus

If the vaccine doesn't stop transmission of the virus but just means that those who are vaccinate get a mild or asymptomatic case is that not likely to lead to greater spread of infections until far more people have been vaccinated as people may have it but not know to keep away from others? The ge...

Re: Coronavirus

It doesn't but other pressures dissipate over time. If there are no cases of strain a then an outbreak of strain xyz wouldn't cause as much problem. If we get a new strain that is highly transmitted then bigger measures would come back. If new strains pop up around the globe that beat vaccines then...

Re: David Moyes - 18th Permanent Manager of WHUFC

I thought Moyes looked a tad annoyed at the end of the game - probably because of the late goal
we conceded.
Of course it could have been the 6 minutes of injury time!!

Do you have a link to the 59% asymptomatic spread please? Would be interested to read this. Thanks There you go. I've referred back to my earlier post, which starts the clip at the appropriate moment. https://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=176841&p=5858640&hilit=youtube#p5858640

Re: Coronavirus

I don't think it's necessarily the people mate, they (we) can only interact with the crap fed to us by the media. It's like the media is infested with people who see Damien Day as a role model instead of a parody....... I'm sick of seeing headline-grabbing articles that cherry-pick lines from a rep...

Re: Coronavirus

EU 'could restrict vaccine exports' Random observations and questions - Oh dear - the entirely predictable scrabble for vaccine supplies as each nation tries to look after its own citizens first. So does anyone know who owns the Pfizer-BioNtech factory in Belgium? I can't imagine the USA standing f...

Re: Coronavirus

I'm not sure that flu requires a full lockdown, seeing as how there is already a vaccine, albeit not available free to everyone and (iirc) only about 60%(?) effective. It's a more straightforward virus in some ways - the average person shows symptoms within 2 or 3 days, feels like s**** and takes to ...

Re: Coronavirus

History tells us low flu seasons are followed by high ones, so we would need to keep all of the above things in place then to keep flu levels down to a minimum and save lives - they are equally important Presumably a low flu season leaves more vulnerable people alive to be taken by next season's fl...

Re: Coronavirus

Vaccines seem to be going well even with the adjustment to the 2nd dose timescale Eh? :) The adjustment will make it go better,if anything - because those 2nd jabs are going to people as 1st jabs. I don't suppose you've noticed that there are supply problems with the AZ and Pfizer vaccines (not jus...

Re: Coronavirus

Thanks. So what we're really talking about is those who have had the vaccine but it didn't work for them. Presumably if the vaccine works on someone they don't get infected and the infect, replicate, transmit cycle is broken. Yes,I think it can work so well that the virus doesn't get a look in at a...

Re: Coronavirus

This is what I don't understand. From the little I know about viruses, in order for a host to transmit the virus, that virus has to enter its host's cells, hijack the function of the cells and cause them to make copies of itself and then make the host body expel those copies to continue the cycle. ...

Re: Coronavirus

There's an article on the BBC website today - "Why I'm breaking lockdown rules". That's also a two fingers up at the rules, and is on the national broadcaster's website. My point is that there will be more and more breaches of the rules. Most people are sick to death of the restrictions. ...

Speaking personally, I've no issue with some form of vaccine passport. I needed to show I'd been vaccinated when traveling to Africa few years back. And if I need to show something to get in to large events - football, gigs, cinema, what's the big deal? With regard to the lifting of restrictions, a...

Younger people are not going to accept restrictions being eased for older people and not themselves, and that will increase the pressure for the restrictions to be lifted sooner rather than later. The "restriction" is being done by companies and it's got nothing to do with "young/old...
