Re: West Ham Utd vs Manchester City: match thread

A few words on the “red” card “wasn’t he the last man?” incident. The “last man” is just one of the criteria referees have to look at in these circumstances. The guidance given to referees suggests that they consider “4 ‘D’s” in coming to their decision: distance from the goal where the offence took...

Re: West Ham Utd v Everton: match thread (FA Cup 3R Replay)

I honestly think the ref bottled sending the keeper off in the shoot-out as he didn't know what he would have to do in that scenario. He actually got his card out of his pocket twice in fact and put it back in his pocket.... Swarbrick warned the 'keeper and did the watch-tapping thing at least four...

Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread

Chelsea are a very good side and their Unpunished diving wasn't necessary. Probably just keeping their hand in. Oliver did the scousers last week and fell for a blatant spot of simulation in the first minute of that one. Let's face it if you can't spot a dive in matches involving Liverpool & Ch...

Re: West Ham United v Swansea City: Match Thread

I agree with a lot of your post, Gnome, but still feel that if it was the opposite situation and it was Adrian who was getting sent off, I think a lot of us would be pissed off.... I agree. I was sympathising with their keeper - I thought that given the shove and/or the handball he was hard done by...

Re: West Ham United v Swansea City: Match Thread

Ref the sending off --- According to Richard Keys (I know) You CANNOT play advantage for a red card offence, this is why he blew before Sakho shot, the goal would not have stood and the ref made his mind up straight away. You can always tell when Richard Keys is talking rubbish - his lips move! The...

Re: West Ham United v Swansea City: Match Thread

I have a slightly different take, Gnome: whilst Sakho still managed to get a shot off - credit to him - and it did hit the post, the contact with Fabianski pushed him wider, thus greatly reducing his chances of hitting the target - ergo, a DOGSO. So still a red? I can see what you mean - I guess it...

Re: West Ham United v Swansea City: Match Thread

My take on Fabianski: The key issue for me at the time was the matter of when Foy blew for the foul. Had he allowed play to continue to see what happened to Sakho’s shot he should then have allowed play to continue after it had hit the post, cautioning Fabianski as soon as there was a break in play....

Re: Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

I can think of an explanation as to why Calamityberg allowed Lukaku's goal to stand. I don't agree with it, but it's still an explanation. When Barkley shot for goal, although Lukaku was standing in an offside position, he wasn't interfering with play as the ball was heading for the goal and not to...

The sobering thought is that no action will be taken against Clattenburg unless he goes home in his own car. Respect? Yeah right.

Had a big thumbs up from the Burnley fans on the 7.15pm train out of Manchester Road...apparently nobody brings that up from London. The vast majority of Chelsea ,Spurs and Arsenal fans that have been there are local and it never takes 2.5 hours to get rid of the away fans. The Local Plod had defo ...

Not that I believe the Gerrard story, but isn't there a more sinister reason why Gerrard has never left Liverpool? Yup, He agreed personal terms with Chelsea and was all set to go then certain elements of the Liverpool underworld paid his Dad a visit and left him in no doubt as to what would happen...
