Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Again, the ‘Brighton model’ isn’t just about buying low and selling high. They have an extensive scouting network and solid infrastructure in place, which allows them to bring in ready-made replacements for players when they do come to sell. I would be very happy to buy low and sell high, if we actu...

Re: Todays matches

I don’t think VAR or referees are corrupt - they’re just simply not very good! The rules are also unclear and inconsistent. I do think there is big team bias, though, which will more than likely be unconscious, but bias nonetheless.

Re: Jesse Lingard

When we signed Lingard the first time, it suited all parties; West Ham, Man Utd, England, and the player himself. It was a short-term deal and he had everything to prove. He played the best ever football of his career during those six months (purple patch) with us, and he got back into the England s...

They were never going to get that, in the 95th minute at Old Trafford. Mental.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

What happens to Coufal, Kehrer, Cresswell, Emerson, Benrahma, Cornet? Do we just dispose of these players or do they all just sit on the bench? We also have FA cup, League Cup and a certain European league to play as well. Kehrer, Cresswell and Benrahma have all been linked or touted as potential l...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Alvarez likes to drop deep into CB too, that would essentially be AWB with 4 centre backs. I’m warming to the idea of having CBs at full-back. Worked pretty well for City and Arsenal last season. Just think if we could solidify our defence (with extra height also good for set pieces) and then we ca...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

————— Areola RB Zouma Maguire Aguerd ———— JWP Alvarez Bowen — Kudus — LW —————— ST RB: I’d go for AWB if Man Utd sign Pavard. LW: someone pacy, who can go on the outside as well as cutting in. ST: our new Antonio. Aguerd pushed to LB to accommodate Maguire. Makes that defence look really big and str...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

When people talk about the ‘Brighton model’, it’s not just about buying low and selling high, it’s more that when they do come to sell, they have a ready-made replacement lined up. Yes, they haven’t won a trophy, but if we had a plan and more ****ing ownership, we could have been even more successfu...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Bowen up top on his own, in this set-up, absolutely not. Antonio gets pelters on here, but when you look at the amount of dross service that’s lumped up to him, I can’t imagine Bowen being able to do any better.

In a two, or in a different system, it could work.

Re: ⚽ AFC Bournemouth v West Ham Utd: match thread

I didn’t think Benrahma or Antonio were that bad today. Certainly not as bad as they’ve been made out. Aguerd was pretty poor and Coufal, on the ball, was useless. Soucek’s best game in about 18 months and Fornals was ok in moments. The subs came a bit late, as usual with Moyes, but on the whole I’m...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Or he does that work further up the pitch where we can actually benefit from it as he has cover behind him. His other strength is ghosting into the box and being an 8 let's him do that more. We all know his limitations, but playing him as a proper box to box helps limit those but he needs passers a...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

With respect I really hope people aren’t wanting Soucek to be our box to box midfielder this season coming. Yep. There are very few box to box midfielders in the game these days, and Soucek isn’t one of them. He’s a disruptive central (more defensive) midfielder who will pop up with the odd goal fr...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Soucek’s best work comes defensively, making tackles, intercepting, breaking up play, etc. So with a proper defensive midfielder in the team, that may nullify his impact even more.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Are we watching the same team? Or are you accounting for players we have yet to sign? We have very little pace at the front currently. Antonio's pace is gone. Ings has never been fast. Benrahma neither. Bowen is fairly quick in short bursts but not a sprinter. Wouldn't call Fornals or Paqueta pacy,...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Not sure our base in midfield would be good enough as Alvarez and JWP, although maybe it works if Aguerd is left back and he stays deep, tucking into midfield I quite like the idea of a flat back four with Aguerd at LB, Coufal at RB, Alvarez sitting in front, with JWP being industrious in and aroun...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

IF (big ‘if’) we could finish the window with a front four, looking something like: ————— Kudus Johnson Bowen Chiesa* *or a statement signing like him, who can both cut in and go down the line at pace, at LW. Then that will absolutely transform our attacking play, in transition. We know we’re not go...
