Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
I said at the end of last season that we couldn't afford to not sign Lingard. I stand by it. A player who arrived in January and improved us massively. While I don't disagree, I can't help but feel like spending this summer window waiting to see if Lingard wants to leave or Man United want Lingard ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
The Enemy now in for Milenkovc, you coudnt make it up, - could ya You mean just as we're trying to negotiate the last parts of a deal for a player suddenly a known rival team of ours - who have just committed to a £50m centre back from Serie A - are suddenly reported by one press outlet as being in...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
When was the last time that a player sent out on loan subsequently returned to us and played a significant number of first team games? The only one I can think of since Noble is Stanislas coming back from Southend and playing 25-30 matches for us. Potts, Nouble, Sears, Burke, Diangana, Oxford, Marti...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Not sure that there is much reason to think Moyes actively wants to play 5 at the back? We did it for a period to allow us to play both Cress and Masuaku, but later in the season we went to a 4, which is the formation Moyes has used most of his career. If we are playing 5 at the back, Cresswell is ...

Re: Takeover talk
You know, while I'm not really against him or them or anything around them, anybody that releases a statement via a website that is propped up by an insider/ITK Twitter account that thrives off the need for up to date rumours/leaks makes me feel a bit wary.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
I can see why we'd look at Aguerd because he's the opposite side to Milenkovic - a left CB who can play at LB. Wouldn't be a surprise to see them both come in if they're really wanted, and Moyes target playing three at the back more regularly than a four. If Moyes wants three at the back to be our d...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
I see the BBC is reporting we have had a $17 million bid for Nayef Aguerd rejected by Rennes. He is, evidently, a defender from Morocco. Was that name out of the blue? I don't remember his name being mentioned before. Football Insider I know, but: A West Ham source has told Football Insider that ch...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
More b*llocks coming out the club again this time from Pearce we can't find better than what we already have so 7 months on from the last transfer window we can't find a better centre half than Dawson and a better centre forward than eh no one what a shambles Again though, I don't think that's what...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
There are no available players out there in the whole of world football who are better than what we've got :crylol: Not sure that's exactly what's being said - it's more that there are players out there who will improve us, but we're hamstrung by finances of any deals for those players. We're tryin...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Why are Watford bombing out Hughes? Hughes rejected Watford's contract offer - supposedly due to a relegation salary reduction being included which, if they went down, would cut his wages back to their current level so he'd sign on for longer with no raise if they were relegated this season (which ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Will Hughes will certainly leave Watford. He's been demoted to train with their U23s.
As an experienced but young(er) central midfield option, I honestly don't think we can go far wrong with him. Would be the perfect alternative to Soucek/Rice.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
I've been reading 'it's a matter of hours' for about a week  The 'shocker' you refer to will be Sullivan saying 'actually, can we have him on loan for a year first?' To be fair, not just us doing that - I've just seen that the deal taking Romero to Spurs is an initial loan. Loads of continenta...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Haller did and we spent 40mil on him. Only after it had been shown that Haller wasn't as functional as Antonio in Moyes' system. He started almost every game until 'Project Restart' (when his injury put Antonio up top and he thrived). We wouldn't spend the kind of money it would take to sign Abraha...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Not been mentioned in association with us at all, but Ronaldo Viera is apparently about to sign with Sheffield United. Was a really big fan of his when he was at Leeds, would be the exact type of player we wanted to support Soucek and Rice.
