Re: Little things that irritate you
My son's girlfriend is, I think, an influencer.
Good looking girl, dresses in a very, um, idiosyncratic way. Like a faerie brass at a rave. Not a really huge following, but more than 10k, mostly teenage girls and not elderly pervs from a West Ham site.
Companies send her loads of clothes, every day. It all goes on eBay. If she likes what they send, she'll stick up a picture on Instagram of her wearing it, and gets 200 quid minimum. If she mentions the name of the company in a caption, it's a grand.
She must be clearing at least 50k a year, for about two hours work a week.

I'm in no way a poppy nazi, each to their own etc. However, when it comes to TV shows, where they are given to the presenters and guests anyway, I feel they should be worn even if only to set an example. On this weeks Mock the Week (accepting there were two Irishmen on there) not one of them was wearing one, that suggests to me either a collective decision or a cock up, I suspect the former.
It was more obvious because in the clips of the people they were lampooning, they were all wearing them........

Tbh, I couldn't care less who wears one and who doesn't regardless of nationality.delbert wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 10:22 am I'm in no way a poppy nazi, each to their own etc. However, when it comes to TV shows, where they are given to the presenters and guests anyway, I feel they should be worn even if only to set an example. Re: Little things that irritate you
If wearing a poppy is anything other than your own conscious decision it's meaningless. It becomes the same as PR droids plonking hats on formula one drivers before interviews.

To be honest all the fancy poppies, small poppies, special edition poppies, jewel encrusted specially designed by a fashion house poppies etc all get on my tits.

Agreed. If it isn't bought from a RBL collector or display, then the RBL are getting nothing from your purchase. Why should some dodgy EBay sweatshop in Hong Kong profit from remembering the fallen?

My missus' "filing system".
We have a filing cabinet, and in fairness, she's pretty good at filing things like manuals and receipts away. But the way she files stuff...?! Washing machine, fridge and freezer all filed under "B" (for Bosch, obviously - we'll skip blithely over the fact that one of them is actually by AEG - a minor matter); Pressure Washer under "K" for Karcher; the Russell-Hobbs Kettle... aha well, I'm sure you're getting the hang of it now: that's under K for Kettle, obviously.

As much as that irritates you Kh, that has really made me chuckle.Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 4:06 pm My missus' "filing system".

Re: Little things that irritate you
Surely you could find most, if not all, of those manuals online? And what kind of kettle do you have that you need to keep the manual for?Kludgehammer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 4:06 pm My missus' "filing system".

Re: Little things that irritate you
On the subject of poppies, I am reading a collection of David Mitchell's newspaper columns and funnily enough, read this one just the other day. 6 years old but I agree with his take on it:

Re: Little things that irritate you
Having to spend £23 on a taxi to get to work this morning because no buses turned up.
No official silence planned this morning, still did it though even though other people were talking.
Having a really crap day.
Then no buses turning up to get me home.
And to top it all off one of the cats was sick on my sofa.
