A week off, then a new adventure starts less than 4 miles from home...
Good for you DL very sensible decision.

Relax for the week and have a nice break with your family, you have been through hell and deserve some time for yourself. :)

My boss holds regular meetings by conference call as the team is spread around the country. Two of the team are named Dave and Sam.

Every now and then my boss will ask for a couple of people to get together to look at something and frequently the pairing is the two I mentioned. So, he will say “Sam and Dave, can you sort out....” and when he does this I, to bring some levity to the meeting, will say the words “I’m a soul man”.

Recently, Sam took early retirement and the whole team got together for a drink. One of the team asked me “why do you always say “I’m a soul man” when Dave and Sam’s name are mentioned?”. So, I said because of the song. Blank look. Sam and Dave, the soul singers! Blank look. So, I started to sing the chorus from Soul Man. Blank look. So, I said to the whole team “surely you have heard of Sam and Dave?”. Blank looks all round.

Is this just me showing my age? Thank god I didn’t use “I’m coming”!

I wouldn't go that far :D Back to driving a bus but much more local. Travelling 35 miles a week as opposed to 390. Up at quarter to 5 for a 0600 start as opposed to half 3 currently.

It was the really early mornings and a long drive that were doing me in.

My missus went back to work a bit too soon after her treatment and suffered accordingly mate. She knew it was too soon but felt she had to get back working (even though she didn't need to). Ended up jacking it in after a few months. Felt so much better for doing so. It's the work ethic that does that ... sometimes you just need to take a step back

Whilst I was at the PC last night, I treated myself to a little cornetto type ice cream out the freezer, and when I went to bed forgot to put the wrapper in the bin.

Come down this morning to find the wrapper and cardboard lid carefully screwed up and left on a post-it note with the message 'put in the bin' by the little dude.

I'm not sure what made me smile the most, the fact he did it, or the fact I'm always clearing up his bloody wrappers and crap after him the cheeky little *****... :D
