Native^^ probably ^^,though there are a few hybrid poplars that are fairly quick too,as is goat willow (Salix Caprea) . Non native, the dreaded Leylandii (don't even think about it), there are some pretty fast growing Eucalyptus ( prefer mildish areas), and , if you go to a specialist grower, some pretty substantial bamboos.

How do you break an egg, but make sure that even the tiniest bit of shell doesn't fall in the bowl/pan, too?

I just cannot seem to do that...it drives me mad.

I have some sort of weird action where I do a few dainty taps on the edge of the pan before I go for the final hit to break...like I'm hyping myself up for it. :lol:

Probably one for the American KUMBers but what do you do when your American football team moves its franchise to another city? I assume that you’d still follow them but as a largely alien concept to football, I am intrigued. When Wimbledon hopped up to Milton Keynes, many fans refused to support them any more.

next door at my old pad planted a tree of heaven, what an absolute b*stard that was
They ended up cutting it down when it had reached about 15 ft, it was however totally flat on one side where I had trimmed it inline with my fence

I'd never heard of Tree of Heaven, before you posted that. Had a quick google up and lo and behold its the same as the monstrosity our neigbour planted about 3 months before he moved out - for some strange reason. Tree of Hell, more like!!

Next on the front page of the search was a Staghorn Sumac. I want one of them instead.

We could grow nothing below the leaves of the tree of heaven, every time it rained it washed something off the leaves that just killed anything below.
That why it ended up as a 15ft one sided tree

They used to flog those Tree of Hell things in big adverts in the newspapers, always a good sign to avoid.

Have a butcher's at the RHS website( it's very user friendly not just for horticultural poseurs like me and aren't trying to flog you anything) they might show you something you like. There is loads of stuff which most normal people would class as fast(ish) growing decorative trees but which are officially 'large shrubs'.

Would this kind of death be painful or pretty instant? I'm guessing suffocation is the main cause?

Not so much a thing I want to know, because I already know - but it's potentially a question that could come up later, and I found it quite interesting when I read about it the other day.

Anyway, apparently, there are a lot of old TV shows and series that will never appear on Blu-Ray or in HD or in UHD, but on the other side of the coin, there are many old movies that have been converted to HD or 4K and the quality is superb, and some of the old classics are also still to be converted, so why can't everything be done?

Well, the answer is pretty simple - film. If something has been recorded on to film, it can actually be blown up to around 8K without a noticeable loss of quality, because of the high quality film and the size of the grain when they were first made enables it, and it's very easy to digitise to HD/4K/8K.

But, because of a lot of TV shows that were popular from 50's onward were recorded in to tape (with the exception of outdoor shots which were easier to shoot on film), they are already electronically recorded in 480p, the electronic signal cannot be converted to anything higher as there will be a huge loss in quality. The resolution is permanent.

So there you go - that's why some of the Star Trek series and such like will never appear on Blu-Ray and other HD formats.
