A return trip to The Brewery Tap in Leeds. Two pints of Leeds Best before catching a train back to the Smoke.
Mentioning it again because this pub has air con.

The Cross Keys, Endell Street WC2H 9EB
Decent little old school pub in an interesting part of town.
Bit on the expensive side,as are most pubs in the area, but a decent Pub.
The Shakespeare's Head ,64-68 Kingsway, London, WC2B 6BG
Typical Spoons ,but not bad.Decent pint of Green king IPA.

Peaky Blinders - Stirling.
Where do I start? This was obviously a pub, once. The bar looks original as does the wood panelling around the split level drinking areas. But, sticking up from the bar, where shelves would have held glasses in years gone by, are scaffold poles with a couple of duck boards across them. The walls above the panelling are that brick looking wallpaper stuff.
The floor is fake flagstones which they must of picked up from a Homebase closing sale.
The barmaid was pleasant but I sympathised with her as they had made her dress in a blokes shirt with braces to look like an extra from the eponymous tv show.
Guinness was £3.10 a pint but from a poor alternate choice of Strongbow, Fosters or John Smiths.
I’ll not be back.

Upon reflection I see that this establishment is aimed at yoots or Neds. The Collector wrote:Pesky Blinders - Stirling.
Honourable mention to Stirling here as, my word, the amount of female flesh on display walking up from the station in high heels for a night out in the big town made an old man feel..... old!

Love that pub. Always go in, if I'm in Covent Garden.woodgreenspur wrote:The Cross Keys, Endell Street WC2H 9EB.

Sells Tayto crisps...and good Guinness too
Never seems swamped by tourists like others in the area and the long bench seating setup seems to encourage socialising. My go-to pub in that overpriced area too.

So we moved office last week into some absolute dump near Old Street station. On the upside it looks like the new local is The Three Crowns on City Road, just by Old Street tube.
There looks to be a great selection of beers and ciders to work my way through, and I'll be doing my upmost to try all of them in the coming weeks.
The only "regular" mass produced beers that I saw were Heinekin and Amstel.

Three yesterday on my little jaunt to London.
The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill
Fantastic Wetherspoons pub. Lovely and clean inside, cannot fault their choice of beers and food and nice views over Tower Bridge. 7.5/10.
The Founders Arms, near Blackfriars Bridge
Was here hoping to watch the North London Derby but they appeared not to have any football on, small TVs. The outside bit was ok but the chairs and tables were cheap. Was expecting a lovely grand old pub due to the name but was rather dismayed to see it appeared to be a new building and really touristy too, not my cup of tea, but did provide good views of St Pauls. 5/10.
The Old Thameside Inn, near London Bridge
Hotfooted it back here to watch the game as we had previously watched the Grand National afternoon here and it was our lucky pub! Really love it here, had the game on downstairs on a ~80" TV or whatever size it was, plenty of room, and then after the game sitting on the balcony outside bang on the river, excellent. 9 pushing on full marks for me.

Opposite The Three Crowns down Baldwin Street you have The Old Fountain which has a roof terrace for the summer days.
Further down the side street of The Three Crowns, Brunwick Place, you'll find The Prince Arthur, proper little tucked away locals place.
Further up The City Road towards Angel, and just off City Road is The Eagle, which has a nice garden and decent grub as well.
Always used to start at The Eagle for a little pub crawl around the back streets and canal areas and end up at Angel Tube.

^^^ When I went in The Eagle the only grub they had was half a pound of tuppenny rice and half a pound of treacle.

Old Street - fantastic pubs. Used to work on Brunswick Place so had the Crowns, Arthur, Draft House and Fountain at my fingertips, was great.
Moved down Great Eastern St, closer to Shoreditch and Liverpool St - Old Blue last okay? The Griffin not bad.

The Prince Arthur, been past a couple of times and looks a great quiet little boozer to sit outside of in the summer and have a few lazy ones.
Shame summer's ****ing over now though.

Anyone been to Crosse Keys on Gracechurch St lately? RAG says it's got 24 hand pumps on? I like the sound of that.

It’s a massive pub, with a bar too match. Nice building too. But it’s a typical city boys venue. I love it outside of the post work period.
