Ah, John Knight's, the old meat rendering plant. It moved to Dagenham in 2017.
As you say, if the wind was in the right (or wrong!) direction, you could smell it all over Newham..
Mind you, some of the smells might also have been coming from the fairly nearby, 'Ziffs', slaughterhouse, which eventually closed in 1997.
