TOTS ... several pints beyond the one that got you pissed, unrequited love and hand to hand combat.

What was the place on the south side of the A127 just west of the Halfway House? Was that Raquels?

To be fair TOTS as we mostly remember it ended years ago. Great memories (and mammaries), good & bad. having to make up addresses because the bouncers didn't like mobs from Romford, getting turned away for having white socks on so walk away take socks off and get in, seeing some decent PA's in there, rows with the locals. Grabbing a burger at the Fortune of War on the way home. Could go on.

Also had Raines not far away for when we couldn't get in TOTS.

Loved Zero as well. one night mate hired an old battlebus for his 21st. Bloody thing would not start when we come out so cue 25 blokes pushing it to bump start it.

Someone mentioned Room At The Top, which was on the roof of Harrison Gibson's department store in Ilford. The only way of getting up there was in the lift to about the thirteenth floor. If there was trouble on the dancefloor, the bouncers just used to push the troublemakers into the lift and press the button ... there was usually carnage and blood everywhere by the time it got to the bottom!

Loved TOTS back in the day, as well as Zero 6. Would often watch a band at the Kursaal before going on to one or the other.

Too many memories (good and bad) to recount. Every Thursday for 2 years when 17/18 and so many other nights.

Bar Bluu was attached next to it and was always my favourite of the two.

What was wrong with white socks?

TOTS, Dukes, Hollywoods, club at Gants Hill (name)? if we were not at a dodgy rave,
Around the time of TOTS in its peak, The club at Gants Hill ( and before it became Faces) was called “The Villa”

Add in a few more:

Charlie Chans at Walthamstow
Ritzy’s and Websters in Tottenham (sorry for swearing on here ..lol)
Secrets and Ritzy’s in Romford
Wheatleys at the Circus Tavern Purfleet

Good times and RIP TOTS

I read the OP with snobbish disdain then from the darkest recesses of my memory realised that I might have actually gone there once. If I did I have erased all details from my brain.

I definitely went to Dukes on my 18th birthday, but it really wasn't my scene. I preferred the pub around the corner that was famous for serving anyone who looked vaguely close to 15.

By that time the nearest 'club' to where I lived was Memories in Sible Hedingham. I never went in there, but it looked like the kind of place where every night was grab a granny night.

My only memory of TOTS is seeing two girls sitting on the kerb outside. One holding the others hair away from her face as she upchucked the contents of her stomach.

Funny how Thursday nights became the new Friday night.
Less funny feeling like death warmed up on Friday mornings..

Never went to TOTS

Being a Chelmsford lad it was Dukes for many many years with a bit of Zues thrown in now and again
Once I got older it was Reds as older crowd and easier to pull lol

As Chelmsford area lads we couldn’t be bothered to go to Southend . Plus I’d had a few mates go out there & just found more aggro. Chelmsford was a comfort zone I suppose we knew lots of people and the area

Epping Forest Country Club now and again, looking back in the 90’s was like Towie before Towie

Hippodrome in Colchester as well every now & again

Place in Ilford a few times can’t think of the name it was a main building

It's funny - we'd often hire coaches to take us to other nightclubs in Essex that were to all intents and purposes identical to TOTS. Same drinks, identical music, same sort of people. But we thought it was a right adventure.

Did Ritzy in Romford become Pulse? I remember moving to Romford just before it had shut down.
