I think "overspend" should be "living beyond your means". You can overspend on a pair of trainers as you can get a pair for 25 quid out of sports direct. Doesn't mean you can't afford it.
I was using 'overspend' euphemistically, for 'go bonkers'.. :D

I didn't buy them, he's 24 going on 14 and an idiot.

We are currently on the verge of having a major bust up because of his foolishness with money. Had an email off his Mum this morning saying she suspects he's "tens on thousands" in debt which I struggle to believe unless he's developed a gambling habit. I don't think a few pairs of expensive trainers would add up to that sort of money but wouldn't be surprised if he's ended up with some payday loan companies chasing him.
Champagne tastes and Lemonade wages don't mix.
What I do about it now is the issue but the bank of Dad is more than likely going to be closed.
Misunderstood. Apologies.

I have city series Adidas now because I can. I pop over to Liverpool sometimes to shop in Transalpino which is a specialist deadstock store. One of the best in the country.

I don’t have a credit card nor any big overdraft. Just a £200 one that comes with my bank account. I should clear that tbh.

I believe a lot of the problem stems from the people he hangs around with. The dealing drugs thing is a possible as one of his “mates” is obviously using him to launder money. Ffs it’s a mess.
I’d kick the **** out of him but he’s bigger than me now.
Time to face the music for the lad I think.

Every one of those "mates" of his will soon abandon him when they meet girls. I've had male friends I've trusted like a brother who I no longer know because of the opposite sex. They've become strangers in many ways. So under the thumb that they're no longer allowed to football or even to the pub. Pathetic.

I do like nice bits of gear. I'm in an ellesse t-shirt and adidas trainers at the moment (plus jeans etc.) I just tend to spend my cash on going places. Looking at a weekend break in Berlin soon.

No matter how much money I had, I'm not sure I could ever justify to myself spending 500 notes on a pair of trainers. Think the most I've ever spent on trainers was a pair of Reebok pumps when they first came out. Think they were 120 quid. What a pile of crap they were. My second most expensive pair were a pair of plain black Nike Air Force One for 70 quid which lasted me for three years and worn daily for work.

They've since been replaced by a plain black pair of Reebok Classic which I got on sale for 35 quid. Theyve just entered their 2nd year, however, for most of the first year they remained unworn!

I've never really been one for expensive designer gear, although there have been times I've bought it, and aside from other people seeing I've got a "name" on, it's never really been any better fitting nor more comfortable than the stuff I buy from Next, Gap, etc. The main difference being is when I've split my dinner down them, or caught them and ripped them and thought well that's a 150 pair of Jean's ****ed, rather than "I'll wait for the Next sale and get another pair".

What's more stupid though, paying £500 on a pair of trainers or paying £660 on a season ticket at West Ham?

At least the trainers will give you comfort and make you look good.

Why would you look good in some of the gear on their site? It's a bit, um, loud: https://www.balenciaga.com/gb/men/sneakers

I'd pay premium for a pair of Adidas Stockholms but they'd very much be Sunday best. I'd go £150. There's a pair of Gazelles on my feet but they were £50 in the sale.

Cheap gear doesn't last. I've had t-shirts or underwear from Primark that's got holes in them already after three months. One of my favourite t-shirts was from a souvenir stand in Malaga.

People are truly ****ing retarded aren't they.

I mean. What the f*** are those monstrosities? Those red things are a sock with some plastic stuck to the bottom.

You'd have to be properly boring to want to shell out that type of money on those things. £5-700 gets you a banging holiday, a years worth of gigs, a season ticket to a sports team.
