FAC3: West Ham Utd 3 Barnsley 0 (03/01/09)

Post by bubbles1966 » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:15 pm

Barnsley P26 W9 D5 L14 F28 A32 Pts32 - 16th in the CCC

Team of barely known players - Kozluk, Darren Moore, Jon Macken and Jamal campbell-Ryce are pretty much all I had ever heard of.

Should be a big Hammers win........

4-4-2 please Fonz - no "squad rotation" crap like Tristan for Cole or Lopez for Ilunga/Boa Morte please.

I expect to be celebrating a Cup win in May.

Grazi! Happy days!

Lots of cheap tickets available!

I'll be well happy if Kieron Dyer gets 15 minutes or so in this game. I fully expect a few goals to be score by us though - bit of confidence finally...

Question is do we persist with Cole? Keep him scoring, keep his "sharp-ness" up? Or do we give Tristan a game?

Finally i'm looking forward to football again

What I do know is that if Green, Upson and Bellamy don't feature the likely hood is that they will be offski. This is a game tjat we should win but ever since the draw I have had a feeling they could nick it

I dont want to see Dyer anywhere near the game. I would rather see him as an unused sub at Newcastle on Saturday two weeks. He would be injured against a dogged Barnskey team.

Again, it is vital that we see Bellamy, Parker, Upson and Green.

I dont mind small rotation i.e. Spector in for Faubert, Tristan for Cole, Mullins for Noble but the full team needs to be utilised

A win of course.

The most important thing will be to see who the club will be avoiding having cup tied. Despite Zola's arguments to the contrary (he'll say "rotation" "a lot of matches" etc) but the big guns who don't figure will most likely be off in January

Sears should feature, in my view.

Give him a chance to make up for the off-day at Watford

Not sure i agree but the press will have a field day with it. Could just simply rest one or two of them and give some others a run out.

Spector, Bowyer, Sears, Tristan and Boa should all start this one.

Strange, according to this we are playing both Barnsley AND P'boro

Also, I don't want Dyer anywhere near that game. Anyone remember what happened that last time he played in a cup game against a lower league team?

I think we need to get settled as a team and a manager but in the league, not in the cup. I say play the b-team and leave the cups until next year.

Agree ...it will be a chance for the club to show it's intentions and start all those players who've been linked with moves away.

What we need also is to trying to maintain the confidence gained from the recent results, Barnsley showed last season that they are more than capable of causing an upset and we used to have a habit of losing to smaller sides in the cup.

I would only make minor changes based on fitness/injuries to those who missed y'days game:

Green
Spector - Collins - Upson - Ilunga
Behrami - Parker - Collison - LBM
Cole - Bellamy

Subs: Lastuvka - Ngala - Faubert - Mullins - Etherington - DDM - Tristan

Can't see any point in risking Dyer in this game, especially as he's only played 45 mins reserve team football since his return.

And Neill would come back in if fit for Spector, who would drop to the bench in place of Ngala.

Before everyone gets too cocky - remember they defeated the Mickey Mousers and Chelski in last years FA Cup. Might not be the walk in the park everyone is expecting............

agreed - lets face it our record in the cup against lower league opposition is embarrassingly bad personaly I think we should play our strongest team we have now won two games in succession and the more wins especialy at home will boost the confidence.

Hmmm....Barnsley are playing pretty well right now. I suspect a very tough game. We will nick it with a goal in the last 10 minutes.

more likely go 1-0 down huff and puff and struggle to break them down scramble and equaliser in the last 15 minutes and get walloped 3-0 in the replay isn't that how it usualy gose for us in cup games against lower league teams at home.
