Re: Your the manager, 2 games left...what do you say/play?
No point worrying about Sunderland yet.
Objective is simple: 3 points at Wigan.
Formation I'd go 4-4-2 -
Threat I see NZogbia as their main threat and I'd expect the two wide midfielders to put in a competent defensive shift but especially on the right. I don't think Sears is up to that. LBM to help Lars.
Team
I'd go:
-------------------Green
Lars-----Tomkins----Dacosta---Bridge (I'm assuming Upson isn't in the frame of mind)
LBM ---Parker-------Hitz-----Obinna
-------------Piq------------Ba
Subs: Boffin: Gabbidon: Spector: Collison: Sears: Keane: Cole.
Our Attacking
I've opted for two big CBs as well as Piq and Ba for attacking purposes. Al Habsi is a flapper at crosses and corners.
Hitz to take all free kicks within shooting distance.
Obinna to be the one who stays up at their corners.
Subs
I'd be thinking Spector and Collison plus Cole (for Obinna, Piq +1 mid) to close the game off if we're winning late on,
If we're losing - we must keep the shape unless it's throwing the kitchen sink at it in the last 10-15.

Parker

Piq
Ba
Subs
Boffin
Cole
Obinna
Spector

Play it along the floor, any of you that do a long ball will incurr a fine of my choosing (cleaning the chairmans bog with a toothbrush), only forward and sideways passing. Training will be consisting of quick tempo passing and movement. A open and frank discussion behind closed doors with the players asking their opinion on whats going wrong. Give Parker an assistant manager role, and him to deliver the team talks, and hand him the captaincy. Id install a closed squad mentality, and keep the team locked up at the Boleyn till the end of season, taking away mobiles and any source of outside information, the only time venturing out is to Wigan.
Do I get the job?

Hopefully we can get the three points and then look foward to Sunderland - hopefully we can also get a few goals here to help with Goal Difference as if we get the miracle off results and two wins then it could come down to it and it'd be nice going into the last game - if still in with a chance - knowing that just a 1 - nil win could keep us up without worry of needing a certain amount of goals.

ive been in a couple around the station....they are very "northern" but you're fine getting a few beers in there, wear babygro/cheap trackys if you want to try and fit in!roblo wrote: What's the boozers like in Wigan? Any tips or just Weatherspoons? PM me if need be, cheers.

....................................Green..................................
Jakobsen.........Tomkins.......DaCosta...........Bridge
....................................Noble/Spector......................
..............Sears.............Parker.............Hitz..............
.............................Ba...............Cole........................
Hopefully Noble will be fit and that coupled with Scotty's return will give the team a huge lift.
Have Nobes/Spector sit in front of the back four and cover the fullbacks and supply the mid three enabling them
to get forwards. We have been truly woefull in transition this season (have we scored a counter attack goal ?)
when we win possession in our own half. If our CB's can't bring the ball out or make a telling pass then get it to Noble,
because he will.
Lastly, no reserve keeper on the bench for the last two matches, extra outfield player/option could make the difference.

Scott Parkers half time team talk at West Brom, maybe this is what we need at Wigan:

Teamtalk for all the good it would do!!!!
If you look outside lads there are at least 4500 that have travelled up here to see you lot kick a ball, are they stupid? no they are not, they live for this game. They along with all of those that couldnt get a ticket travel because they believe. Week in week out they believe in you and the club.
You are privileged to wear the shirt, it may not be man united or Real Madrid but its claret and blue and you can smell the history on it. When you were boys you played football not for money, fancy cars and fist fights in clubs. you played it because you loved it. the feeling of passing your mate with bloodied knees until it was to dark to see, jumpers for goal posts and last goal wins that repeated itself time and time again. If you just take 10% of that passion for the game out there on that pitch you could beat any team in the world.
We are West Ham, those supporters dreams rest on your shoulders, walk out there with your head held high and show them that they have the right to believe in you and the club.
You are blessed to be in the position you are. As professional footballers you are hero's to their kids and revered by their parents. Hell, if you want to just pick up your pay cheque and not give a **** thats your choice but when you look back on your life dont look back and regret. Live for today. Get Up and tell me your winners and go out there and prove to everyone in the country you are West Ham and we wont go down without a fight.
