Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
Couple of real below par performances today.
Thought Vaz Te, Reid and Collison were poor. Some of Reids decisions were awful and Vaz Te looked like a kid playing his first game.
Collison looked very tired.
Overall decent point againsta very physical team.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
Collison / O'Neill / Noble need the forward line to make the correct runs. Faubert, Vaz Te, Maynard today did not, automatically making our midfield look poor. Cole came on, there was more movement, suddenly Collison & Nobes have better options... It's all relative. The only thing you could say negatively about JC today is that he could have finished that chance better but then he's now Kevin Nolanjacko wrote:

Collison just doesn't deserve a place in this team. If he was a foreign lad who bottled challenges like he does he'd be slated every week. He's a bang average player who bottles tackles and never jumps for headers. Tomkins looks twice the midfielder he is. He really pisses me off every time I see him.

No need for a freak out - Palace have a good defence, and it showed today. We looked tired (and frankly we had good reason to be). We've lost to worse teams than that this season.
Bit of a come down though after the past week

Cole made a big difference when he came on, in my opinion - and like someone else mentioned, he drew three guys to him opening space for smart runs by Baldock.
Faubert was pretty meh today. Collison wasn't great.
I liked Maynard's energy though. Always pressing the defenders.
Noble was brilliant. His workrate is really impressive; he is all over the pitch (in a good way).

We looked a bit like the big bad wolf trying to blow down the house made of bricks and other than the bit of play leading up to Vaz falling over in the box and Cole's flick on to Baldrick it did not seem as if anyone had class enough today to deliver a killer ball. After the last 3 games I guess it is being kind to put it down to tiredness. Something they will need to sort out for next month though.

Sam saying the players don't appreciate being booed off and moaning about it in the dressing room, damn right.

Bit off-topic, but Jordan Spence is starting the game today for Bristol City, must have been ages since last time he played properly...

Collison wasn't great, but he wasn't our worst player today.
I think Collison should be given a rest for the Cardiff game, or begin on the bench.
Credit to Palace, they defended well. Just one of those below par games every team has every now and again. Just need to move on and up it for next weeks fixture

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
If Tomkins plays midfield in the Premiership & turns on the ball that slowly then we'll get mugged every week. Jumping for headers is hardly how I would compare them, Collison & Noble linked up nicely at times in that game - like I said to another poster, If no-one runs for our midfielders then they can't produce the goods...Dannyboylister wrote:Collison just doesn't deserve a place in this team. In general, booing your team off when you're a goal down is stupid.Faubert's Boot wrote:Sam saying the players don't appreciate being booed off and moaning about it in the dressing room, damn right.
Booing them off when they're level is stupidity squared. Make us look like we're at the Emirates
Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
Green was brilliant, kept us in it at points. Getting him to sign a new contract has to be the priority in the Summer. Thought Tomkins had a good game and Baldock's movement was sharp when he came on and could have won it for us. Apart from that, a vary flat performance.

Awful performance. Back four couldn't hit a bovine's rear end with a musical instrument. Could we please practice crossing the ball.
Please. PLEASE.
1 good cross all day and the forwards (Cole I think) were so surprised, he didn't move for it. Baldock looked well lively. The type of movement we've really needed on a constant basis.
Midfield non existent most of the day and for goodness sake, could Green please play the ball out more often. When he did we looked pretty decent, but the wide players, Faubert, Vaz Te, O'Brien and McCartney were dreadful. O'Neill didn't add a lot either.

The point he made was that they don't appreciate being booed off when top of the league. You're right aceface we ain't Arsenal or Chelsea and frankly it's quite embarrassing.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
the biggest problem was we kept letting them get 10 men behind the ball instead of really counter attacking.
Let's hope all the other top teams lose.
We could beat Cardiff next week as they seem to have had a right wobble since they got to the LC final.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
For Cardiff away, a very difficult fixture anyway, now made even more difficult having dropped two precious and very careless points today, I would go along with that. Following the exersions during the week, he could have rang a few changes, to keep players fit and fresh, but playing an unchanged team today who have probably not trained since, was unimaginative and wrong in my opinion.Collison making way for Ravel today was so obvious I would have thought, a blind man could see itSofaKingLazy wrote:
