Someone questioned a few pages ago the need for two holding midfielders, the answer to you sir is yes we need them. Categorically so in my opinion.

I have argued more than most that 451 is too negative but Sunderland away was an example of how exposed we are without Diame and Noble and I honestly think had we not been playing 451 all season we would have shipped a lot more goals so would be a few points worse off and as a result, right in the sh*t.

We need Diame and Noble in the side together. They have been awesome as a pairing, they break up attacks before half of our fans even realise there is a threat.

As for the rest of the side I would like Sam to be a little more adventurous but it is not going to happen. He favours a solid four at the back (as would most managers) and he likes Nolan playing in the hole. This leaves very little in the way of options.
That was me Sutts. The reason I questioned it was because Bubbles66 was proposing Diarra, not Diame.
To me Diarra is a DM but Diame offers much more.

I've even seen Piquionne murder Hangeland.

For a bloke with such a big reputation he always seems shell shocked when playing us.....

Love this quote on tomorrow's game from some wrestler on BBC preview:

"London dog fight. Hammers have got bigger teeth."

Actually, Magnus the Wrestler's comments were all insightful, intelligent and witty, unlike Lawro's waffled garbage.

Bizarre season isn't it? If we win this by the same margin as last time we were there, we'll go 10th I think.

What a strange game that was. Carlton gets two and Piq scores.

This was on boxing day wasn't it? IIRC Sears had a brilliant game.

I would prefer to see JOB at right back to Demmel simply cos he's a better defender. Not so good coming forward I accept, but Demmel's defending at Arsenal was abysmal, not that he was alone there. And that's not the first time his defending has been very suspect. JOB at right back though is as solid as a rock defending.

Another go for Jordan Spence I hope, (who did play LB the other day did he not?). A bit strange to be MoTM against ManU and after that not even make the bench.

Some Twiter rumours tell us that Reid may be ready though...

severe lack of confidence in all things away from home after last week, im sorry to say.

Cant see us scoring more than one. Cant see them not scoring more than two. So many players out of shape or just not good enough.

I fear another 3 nil surrender.

Sam's pre-match words means we'll me more 45--------------------------------------------------------------------------1 than we usually are

Prove me wrong west ham :crest:

One of my favourite away runs of the season , just a pity it's midweek .

I reckon we'll see our best performance for some time tonight and put them to the sword , yet only yesterday I was predicting a defeat .

Matchday optimism .

Since 2001: P 17 W 10 D 5 L 2

The only time we've lost to them in recent years was in a dead-game at the end of the season in 2010.

Craven Cottage is almost the opposite of Anfield in terms of West Ham's ability to get a result.

Seconded.
Half day meet up, a bit of grub at one of my favourite City eateries then park up in a pub on the river at Putney bridge for the afternoon.
