I like Amalfitano but at the point where he came off he'd been ineffective for a little bit. Not saying I agree with that substitution but he was starting to fade himself.

Obviously I agree about Noble. He is back, looking sharp and fit again. Still baffles me that anyone can say he's not good enough for us.Morocco Mole wrote:bull**** result, we were miles better than them. Mark Noble was on a different planet.

I'd have given Vaz Te a run out. Would've given us an outlet to chase down punts into the corner for the last 10 minutes.WorcesterWHU wrote:I like Amalfitano but at the point where he came off he'd been ineffective for a little bit. Poor substitutions and negative thinking was at the core of not coming away with a win. Clear and simple.

I thought Jarvis done ok too.
£10 says though we'll get beat in the replay. The decision to bring on all the deadwood at 1-0 tonight will haunt Allardyce again forever and they'll be an 85 page KUMB thread about it.
Nailed-on certainty.

Big sam said in his post-match interview "but if you don't punish your opponents when you have the chance it comes back to bite you"....

We would have lost if he didn't change it. Everton would have had their usual 15 minutes and done us.LifeCoach wrote: The point is we were winning and within a few minutes of the next round.

Disappointing the way it ended, but when you bring on a joke like O'Brien what do we expect.
We're still in the cup so we've still got a great chance to progress.

The exact point Kevin kilbane made summing up on 5live commentaryLifeCoach wrote: Poor substitutions and negative thinking was at the core of not coming away with a win. Clear and simple.
Real shame as it sounded like we'd played really well, and Everton were lacklustre until the last 10 mins when we sat back and invited them on to us

I thought he gave a masterclass on how to screen the back four and play the holdng role tonight. Alex Song sycophants take note.fjthegrey wrote: Obviously I agree about Noble. He is back, looking sharp and fit again. Still baffles me that anyone can say he's not good enough for us.

We've played them twice this year with a string of reserves in both games and it's pretty clear that we are better than them except in getting rubbish offside calls in our favour.
Change that next week and we're through.

Its all making sense now Moley, how we managed to sign Song that is. He's here to learn, from one of the best in the business.Morocco Mole wrote: I thought he gave a masterclass on how to screen the back four and play the holdng role tonight. Alex Song sycophants take note.

Song coming back to play ahead (on the pitch) of Noble with Amalfitano will make a huge difference in the coming weeks.
Noble makes us tick.

Re: Everton vs West Ham Utd (F ACup 3rd Rd): match thread
So we only get a draw at Goodison, where we always get f*** all, and somehow its a poor result and all O'Briens fault.
Wtf?
We played well tonight, we were by far the better team, we took it to them, we got a bit unlucky at the end.
That's all.
I thought the sub's were spot on more or less myself, and Carlton did OK.
Who else can we blame?
