But who will be least sh*te on Tuesday night?

Looking at their upcoming fixtures Martinez may need a result from this one .

After us they have got

Man City - Home - A likely defeat
West Brom - Home - A dare not lose fixture where the opposition will smell blood -draw ?
Palace - Away - A dare not lose fixture where the opposition will smell blood - defeat ?
Liverpool - Home -Draw ?
Chelsea - Away - Defeat .

So, possibly 2 points from their next 5 league games , and while I don't think there is any risk of his Chairman sacking him, or worse still, scouting players for him, there's every chance that come the 4th round of this competition that Martinez may find himself settled in the bottom 6 of the PL. Currently just 4 points out of the drop zone this season is starting to look a bit like Martinez's final one at Wigan .

I very much doubt they will want to be bottom 6 and out of the cup , so I reckon we will see as strong a side as Martinez can muster, less perhaps Coleman who may be rested ahead of a transfer .

Tuesday will be Evertons 28th competitive fixture this season , 7 more than we will have played, and I'm not sure they have the depth in their squad that we do , so they should in theory be tired , or at least more tired than us .

Given the doubts over Sakho, , who I very much doubt will be off to the ACON , and the limited impact our club record signing is having at the moment I expect Carlton Cole to start, possibly with Valencia .

In the middle, given the absence of the other potential ACON absentees, we will see Noble, Morgan, Downing and Jarvis with Nolan replacing Noble on the hour .

In defence we will see 4 of the usual 5 starters, I doubt Sam will risk giving Joey or Danny a run out, Adrian between the jumpers .

-----------------------------------Adrian-------------------------------

Jenks------------Collins-----------------Reid----------Cresswell

----------------------------------Noble--------------------------------

-------------Jarvis-------------------------Amalfitano-------------

-------------------------------Downing------------------------------

----------Enner--------------------------------Cole----------------

Bench - Carroll, Nolan, JoB, Tomkins, RvT, Jussi, Demel

Looks a bit thin shorn of just a couple of the usual starters doesn't it .

Unavailable for all sorts of reasons - Morrison, Zarate, Sakho, Kouyate, Song, Poyet, Maiga .

Everton in the hat for the 4th round I'm afraid .

A very good summary of the situation, but why the doubts over Sakho going to the ACON?

Even though I am one of Carroll's biggest fans, he should have a break for this one. On the bench, and only brought on if needed due to injury or if we are chasing a goal.

Hmm? Away game in Liverpool, bogey team, best players at ACON, Manager who doesn't care about the Cup, I'm not holding out too much hope for anything but a 0-2 defeat. Maybe next year.

Bobby Brown-Shoes appears to think Alcaraz is better than Distin :P but unfortunately Alcarez got a red yesterday so can't be selected.

As much as I would love us make an all out assault on this competition, our squad still isn't big enough to give our first team regulars a much needed rest after the hectic Christmas period. Therefore, as unpopular as this will no doubt be, it is the sad truth of the matter, so, I am for the following X1 The regulars need a much needed rest

Jussi, Demel, Collins, (or how about that Canadian geezer ?) Burke, Potts, Poyet, Nobes, Nolan, Jarvis, Amalfitano, Carlton

We'll lose with this eleven, but we'll lose with our regulars anyway

We could have won our last three and we'd still lose this one.

Jussi might be given a game

O'Brien and Demel at FB with 2 of the usual 3 at CH

Noble Nolan Morgan

Jarvis Carlton Valencia

2-1 repeat defeat of the November game.

I expect Vaz, Jarvis & Carlton to get some game time. As well as possibly some of the younger lads making the bench maybe

Everton & Martinez need a result much more than Allardyce, based on that I reckon a 1-2 win to them - with us throwing away a win in the last 10 minutes

I'd be happy with a draw and a replay.

I can't remember the last time we beat them, maybe when Pardew was in charge and upset Moyes with a few cocky comments afterwards?

Lukaku nailed on to bang one in against us as usual.
