If you'd asked me earlier today, I would have been more than satisfied with a tie. We looked fantastic!
We defended that lead impressively. Didn't invite them on for the last 45 minutes but weathered the attack and went forward well when we had our opportunities.

After viewing Slav's post match comments, I'm impressed with how he looks to manage the team.

Just had a peep on the Arsenal forum. Some golden comments on there -

"West Ham are getting spanked, that much is obvious. They are our banker side."

"Go out there and make a statement. West ham have got a ton of new players settling in and their best attacker is injured. Let's get out there, spank'em 5 nil and send a message that were coming for that title."

"West Ham is a **** team, hoping them to go down very soon. They deserve nothing."

"It's pathetic, West Ham think they're above the Europa league.

West ****ing Ham.

Hope we demolish them on Sunday."

Thanks Whizzer. I've been a right misery since Thursday but fair play - credit when it's due and my moaning was put right in its place today. Like I say, Rome wasn't built in a day but there was certainly some foundations laid today. As others have said in the transfer thread, I just hope that the Daves don't think we've got enough based on that result. We still need a couple maybe 3 to boost what we have. Song being an obvious one and that is apparently done by all accounts, but maybe another striker and some support for Payet as we can't expect him to cover that role himself for the whole season.

Got a feeling I will be very rough tomorrow ! :)

Payet out of this world, Kouayte bossed it. Oxford shone, Noble took the piss at times. What a strong back 4 as well, Tomkins had a great game out of position.

Zarate was used perfectly today.

Well done super Slav and team

Well summed up , Wizzo - Kouyate's bravery for the first goal and Zarate's guile for the second along with the way the new Manager set us up was too much for Wenger's Boys .
In the little time that Slaven Bilic had to work with the first team today was a masterclass in how to beat Arsenal - just imagine how good we're going to become after a few weeks ! :D

Every player deserved MOM today but if only one player can have it , then it has to go to Kouyate , brave as a lion and full of running .

Don't concede in the last five minutes - tick

Very good concise summary
Can't help thinking I had a small part to play in the victory by (albeit traitorously) selecting Cech as my fantasy league captain for this week...

Slaven said to me before the match, we don't need a miracle to win but we do need to be at our best. Well done. dg

Not singling you out, it's just that your the last one that's said it.

Can we not just enjoy the win, and not make it about Allardyce, because it could be said that without the foundations he laid, today may never have happened.

Aside from Oxford and Payet and Ogbonna, that was Allardyce's team out there.
Fair dos, caught up in the moment there. Then you have to go and dangle a carrot in front of me that I can't resist biting on.

Aside from Oxford, Payet and Ogbonna, that was indeed Allardyce's team out there. What it wasn't was his tactics. That won us the game, I appreciate what you're saying about it being his team, but let's face it, Slaven's execution with it was sublime today. So yes, cheap dig at former personnel, you've got me bang to rights on that but I don't want to do anything else but big up the new gaffer!

Right, to the future we go...

Allardyce would have lost that match by 3 goals he wouldn't have had the bottle.

Probably true. If he hadn't lost it by the time the coach pulled up he would definitely have lost it when we made the mistake of going 1 up........

I wouldn't call Tomkins and Noble Allardyce's players and Zarate was f***ed off by him to QPR. But apart from that the main difference was the tactics and attitude. I don't believe the players were happy with Allardyce's approach to the game but carried out his orders to their best ability. You could see how much happier they are moving the ball out of defense with some purpose rather than hoofing it up on the off chance that our lone forward would hold it up until the cavalry arrived.

Onwards and upwards!

Zarate a Sam player? Noble signed by Sam? Oh Ok.

Personally I am celebrating seeing the back of Allardyce and playing a different brand of football. And it sounded like a lot of the fans with me today were too. "We play on the floor" and "are you watching Allardyce" sung repeatedly.

Maybe that is ungrateful - but then he never made any attempt to meet the fans halfway...

How you can go from losing 3-0 to Arsenal to winning 2-0 in the space of 4 months I don't know. It must be the manager factor, can't really be anything else.
