So pleased for Zarate today, he is a confidence player, needs a hug now and again scored a great goal today.
I would have taken 2-0 today, just didn't believe it would be in our favour!!

We were fatally underestimated by Arsenal. Payet looked world class and how nice was it to not watch us throw away a 1-0 lead and instead build on it! Still can't believe Reece Oxford is only 16

Our next 2 games are big games in my eyes and I hope we don't underestimate Leicester and Bournemouth like Arsenal didn't rate us in the lead up to this game. Slaven needs different plans for these games.

Goes to show how little nobody really knows about this weird, fun game.

Mostly as a West Ham fan I go into a season hoping to avoid a relegation struggle, and picking up a couple of famous wins against big teams. Nice to get that done so quickly, though that's not to say we're not going to be beaten 3-0 by bournemouth at home next week.

Still, some really nice play and surprising assuredness from a team/manager I thought might be a little hesitant. The confidence shown in a couple of the choices (starting zarate and Oxford, Tomkins at RB) really affected those players, and the rest of the team.

Big positives: - Payet's a lovely presence. I'm still more hesitant than some to declare him our world-beating saviour, but he's really got something. He knows when to play and when to calm things down. We also look dangerous/effective on the break for the first time ever!!!!
- Adrian's confidence has grown so much. he looks like the real deal.
- Oxford! Tidy and assured and YOUNG. Wouldn't be surprised if his CB days are already entirely behind him.

The rest:
- I loved the match today but I am also a big Allardyce fan. Today was a really nice step forward from the team, but we're still very obviously built on a foundation only he was able to give us.
- I was at the boleyn for Mark Noble's debut many, many years ago. He was tenacious and fiery and gave it his all, and he grew into my hero and my favourite player. It pains me to see him a little out of his depth against the increasing pace and technicality of the premier league.

Anyway carry on

Hats off to Bilic

I am still disappointed about Thursday but part of that was because I didn't think we had a prayer of taking anything from today. Shows what the hell I know!

Suddenly very excited about the season again!

Had same thoughts watching the game. Bilic looked interested throughout and the knot of his tie was neck not gut level.
Bilic's tie was neither straight nor a full windsor knot. Room for improvement.

But as long as he keeps doing everything else right I don't give a flying one

Yes, one game, but I would dearly love to have all the 'pundits' mainly from talkSport, who caught onto the line 'West Ham fans should be careful what they wish for..' when their media darling 'Big Sam' was dispensed with, made to watch the re-run of this afternoon twenty times. F8uk the lot of them.

So impressed with Nobes today, i'm not always his biggest fan but he showed so much experience in winning us so many free kicks that gave us a breather and broke up any momentum the arse might try and build, if he can keep it up then he will be a great captain for years to come

Noble looked a proper player today, breaking up play and getting and giving the ball to Payet, hopefully that performance buys him some time from the sniping.

Make no mistake..Oxford is a future captain possibly future England captain if we can resist the £20m upwards bids in the future. As much as I dislike Stan Collymore he had this to say:

"Reece Oxford berated, cajoled and talked to his team mates . He’s 16. So why can’t #Arsenal players?"

I understand not putting to much pressure on a player but he's just put in a MOTM performance against the title challengers at 16 years of age.

Signing him onto a long term contract would arguably be our best signing of the summer.

F*ck off , I support them because despite the fact that the reality is we may never win anything all i ask is my team try.

Go and find a post where i am every critical of the team or the players.

I spend 90% of my time on here supporting Nolan and Cole , Collins etc etc.

If we arent even going to try and win something then why bother., if today effort is just 3 more points in our quest to finish 17th what is the point.

Today was fantastic but we arent going to win the league we arent going to qualify for the Champions league everything is set up against us to do that , our good players will just be bought if we are ever in that position.

So why is is it sad to ask of a team that you don't expect to win anything just to have a go and try to give it their best , we didnt do that on Thursday and i am disappointed.
Do you honestly think we would have put a dent in the Europa league?
The answer should be no..we wouldn't .
Then what would be the point of that?
I get what you are inferring , but surely the sensible thing to do is prioritise.
The TV money brought about by premiership survival is paramount in building a team that one day will be able to handle a two pronged attack on Europe and the premier league.
What's the rush?
For me it was the right move by Slav, and I trust him to do right by his team.
In Slav we trust :)
