Three points here could push us into the top four if results go our way.
Totts would normally look at home games against Leicester & Sunderland as home bankers but I don't see Leicester losing tonight and Sam has a bit of a voodoo over Pochetino so you could be right. We win and we are out on our own 4th place !!

Same team for me, but we need Reid back in, and Jelavic instead of Carroll

Not sure who Reid should replace, probably Ogbanna (which is harsh) but i do think our best defender (by a long way IMHO) should be playing when fit

our defence has been literally the best in the league since the shambles at the lane. leave well alone. everyone is there on merit.

Never an easy ground to visit at any time. However, this is the type of game which pretty ideal to my mind. It reminds me of some of our less successful years where a moral boosting win/draw against a big boy, would be followed up by a draw or a loss with somebody like Fulham, Portsmouth, or Sunderland, who were doing very well at that particular time, but were a team that one might have hoped we would beaten after a springboard.

Newcastle have improved gradually this season, and their squad is good even if the balance hasn't always been achieved. A tough game, but I foresee us sneaking it by a goal in a 2-1 win.

That may as well be the case but teams do not leave out their best defender (which i think he is). Our best defensive displays against the big boys have been with Reid in the team. If Man City had a run of clean sheets, they would still being Kompany back in when fit

Expect Song to start this one and maybe Reid as well so we can rest some legs. Would love to see Jelavic on the bench as well - doubt he can play 3 games in 8 days.

the problem is, if you run a club like that, fringe players will have nothing to turn up for as they know they'll be back on the bench as soon as the manager's favourites come back to fitness.

slav's running a meritocracy. you earn the shirt, you keep the shirt. ginge has gone from fourth choice to dislodging one of our very best players and he'll be an inspiration for anyone trying to find their way in who wants to work for it.

Possibly our biggest game of the season so far , and it's an absolute must win match .

If we can get two away wins on the spin it won't half make a difference come May .

In the vast majority of cases i agree with you. However, for me, there are two players who should always play when fit, unless of course they have a catastrophic loss of form, Payet and Reid (i would have said Song last year but he is not up to speed yet)

I believe WHU will have to score not to lose this one.
I would be ok woth the draw, but we need 3pts if we want to challenge for 4th
With 2 strikers out and Jelavic 3rd game in about a week i dont think we can afford to play 4-4-2
I see Bilic going with 4-2-3-1 or even 4-1-4-1
I dont see Jelavic playing 90min
My prediction
WHU wins 2-1
We score first (payet-penalty we ate due one) but 1-1 at the half, Jelavic comesin amd scores at 85th again:)

Jenks - Ginge - Obg - Cress
------------- Obiang -------------

-----------Noble -- Song--------

-Antonio - Valencia - Payet--

I think we need 3 CMs away from home, Newcastle will be chomping at the bit.

Song to come in. I think these 3 could work really well - i don't rate Kouyate as a footballer and think Song should start to find some rhythm soon after a long absense.. theres 3 good passers of the ball in there ( i know song has been off colour lately but with Antonio and Valencia a little raw i think we need players in the middle who can get their foot on the ball)

I like Tomkins at RB but Bournemouth effectively targetted him yesterday and Jenks has looked a little better lately, may offer more generally.

Front 3 interchangeable and fluid in terms of positioning.

I thought Tonks did well last night. Covered the centre backs as well as holding his own. I accept Jenks is better going forward but last night their goal and best chance came from the left not right side of our defence.
