Force of habit.

Interesting that our last 6 games are quite similar.

I hope we win this game ..... but then I always do.

The concern of that, if City are intent on winning the title, they will see 3 points in this match as almost a mandatory requirement. And, of course, they have the firepower to cause us problems.

The other side of the coin is that this season under SB, we've responded generally well to setbacks.

Would consider playing our fastest two players (Enner & Antonio, presumably, in the diamond, because, if we try to use Jelly or A.N. Other as a sole target man, we will be destined to play most of the game in our own half...something Aguero and De Bruyne would relish.

Would rather lose, having a right go at them, rather than just defending for 90mins, and getting beat anyway.

Adrian
Tomkins Reid Ogbonna Cresswell
Noble Kouyate
Valencia Payet Antonio
Jelavic

Form over reputation for me is important, hence the inclusion of Tomkins and Valencia instead of Jenkinson and Moses. Having said that I do agree with others that Reid might be better suited to this game than Collins.

I'd look to give Antonio a rest for this one and have him on the bench with Moses coming in.

I really fancy us for this. One of the last games under the lights, 3-1, no problem.

On what basis though? Moses was poor in his last few games before he got injured.

Moses played well against City earlier in the season.

agreed - he's looking knackered and City will know how to manage him

Flying up to see this one, first (and last) game at the famous Boleyn

Any recommendations on where to eat/drink before the match? I want to try everything I can while I am here, particularly any East End Traditions that might not be around when we move to the OS, so any recommendations would be much appreciated!

As for the match itself, it's definitely going to be a difficult one. If we come out attacking I could see us nicking an early goal, as without Kompany their defense isn't as well organized. I'm going with a 1-1, with Antonio the scorer, and Yaya the scorer for them.

--------------------Adrian----------------------
Tonks--Collins--Ogbonna--Cresswell
-------------Noble-----Obiang---------------
Antonio----------Payet------------Valencia
---------------------Jelavic-------------------------

Subs: Randolph, Reid, Jenkinson, Song, Kouyate, Moses, Oxford (if he hasn't been loaned yet)

Can't drop Collins as he has been imperious in defense since slotting in for Reid. Noble always seems to play well against the big teams, and will need to bounce back from his performance against Newcastle, so I would leave him in for this one. Need Obiang to protect the back four, and hopefully Jelavic can provide us with some decent hold up play, with the attacking three supporting him. COYI!

I honestly don't know how to approach this fixture. I'd play one of two line-ups

Option A

Adrian
Tomkins-Collins-Ogbonna-Cresswell
Obiang-Kouyate
Antonio-Payet-Moses
Jelavic

or

Adrian
Tomkins-Collins-Reid-Cresswell
Obiang
Kouyate-Noble
Payet
Jelavic-Valencia

I have a funny feeling this game will show how much we miss Sakho and Carroll. If Antonio plays he needs to be on top form as Kolarov takes no nonsense. As do the rest of the team to be fair. But over the last few seasons we up a game for the big games so we'll see what happens. :scarfer:

Song on form could boss a game like this. I'd like to see him play abd let Noble sit out.

--------------adrian
Jenks-reid-ogbonna-cresswell
------obiang--Song--Kouyate
Moses--------jela------Payet

Bench:Randolph, tomkins, collins, Antonio,Noble, Zarate, Valencia

Reid has to come back in for me, our best defender.

Reid's performance against City earlier in the season was one of the best defensive performances i've seen. Superb that night.

Front page on the site has this as an away match, which just scared the **** out of me as I've bought a spare ticket for it!

We looked very disjointed at Newcastle.

We haven't had any occasion this season where we've followed up a very poor result and performance with another poor result and performance.
Reckon we'll get a draw, 0-0 or 1-1, and a win against Villa to follow it up 10 days later.

Worst time to be playing them right now, Aguero and Silva just getting to full match fitness, they are starting to click and score goals freely. I would take a point now and a win against Villa next, 4 points from the 2 games would set us up nicely for Feb and getting Sakho and Carroll back to kick on :scarfer:
