West Ham Utd 1-0 Swansea City (30/09/17)

Post by prophet:marginal »

Swansea are presently unbeaten on the road.

They have both conceded and scored roughly half the goals we have.

All this suggests to me that they'd probably not be too unhappy to defend stoutly and score on the break, if they can.

If we beat them, they'd probably replace us in the bottom three.

The battle for midfield is a game-defining issue. With new loanee Sanches partnering Fer, they won't lack for strength and fight.

Is our record signing Marco capable of switching and playing wide right? If he is, I'd be tempted to reward Masuaku with a start, down the left ahead of Cresswell.

Noble and Kouyate offered enough in terms of tackling and energy to retain their places together in centre mid.

So,

Hart

Fonte - Reid - Ogbonna

Zabaleta - Kou - Noble - Cresswell

Arnautovic --------------Masuaku

----------------Aitch

I'd rather not have Big Andy start, but don't forget he normally terrorizes Swansea.

Arnie has done nothing to justify starting. Antonio if fit, otherwise Ayew.

Andy on the bench till late on please. I have a bad feeling he will start and we will go back to hoof ball and the crowd will be asleep by the final whistle.

Arnie is the only fit creative player we have. If you don't play him then you have to start Carroll and thump it!

Apart from the Bolton game, he has created nothing so far. Waste of money, keep him on the bench.

This is a must win game.

I would play a 3-5-2 formation. Hernandez and Martinez up top.

I just think we're not clinical enough and too dodgy at the back to ever look at a Premier League fixture and think 'yeah, we'll win this one'. Two years ago I thought we could win every game, I honestly thought we were a match for anyone in the World, these days I look at us and think we'd struggle against Swansea.

Finally people seeing light on the Masuaku as a winger idea :D

Have to keep the excellent Ogbonna (who makes a back three functional), have Cresswell and Masuaku dovetailing and then play the same central midfield if Lanzini isn't fit.

If Antonio is fit, he starts on the right and Arnie misses out to Masuaku. Lanzini in for Noble, if our maestro is fit.

These are the matches he must win and although I share your opinion our defence is not great, offensively neither are Swansea. Personally, I think our biggest problem is in midfield, although this will be boosted by the return of Lanzini. I think we will have enough to win this one, but I don't expect a rout or anything near it in a rather dull, dour and drab encounter resulting in another say of execution for Bilic

If five defenders isn't enough we want to play another one in our attacking three?

If we insist in playig five at the bqck then get Masuaka in place of cresswell

I'd be more tempted to just replace Cresswell with Masuaku. I thought Cresswell had a shocker yesterday.

7pts from the next 4 games is absolute minimum. With the fixtures after these 4 games we need to be at least 14th or we are in a spot of bother.

Cress had little, if any, composure yesterday, there were a number of occasions where he just hit it long rather than take a touch and look around.
