Re: West Ham United v Southampton Match Thread
4-1 4-1 and 3-0. Don't see much changing here. I want us to win, I really do but we have an insipid manager and money grabbing owners. Southampton are in a similar boat and deserve to go down due to sacking a manager who got them mid table and in a cup final. But Hughes will know what to do against us come saturday. If we avoid defeat then we still have a chance.
I also see a lot of people having us lining up with 6+ defenders on the pitch, if we do that on saturday we will crumble.

Re: West Ham United v Southampton Match Thread
I think it's time we sacrifice defensive security and 5-3-1-1 for a more aggressive lineup and 3-2-3-2 at home. It's another must-win-game, and previous results show that we start games far too defensively when playing our relegation rivals. Arnie up top means no Hernandez, and Hernandez alone as CF in our long-ball-style is pretty much useless.

As to predicting the score?
It could be 3-0, 3-3 or 0-3.
Like most of our games this season. Well, the 0-3 mainly..

Isn't a hopeless ref a bonus - given how bad we are?

Re: West Ham United v Southampton Match Thread
so now we are likely to be without Collins and lanzini. lets hope no more injuries.
Adrian
zab kouyate ogbonna cresswell
Antonio rice noble masuaka
arnie hernandez
subs hart Johnson Cullen quinna Mario Fernandez hughill
a young and largely uninspiring bench
still no idea what the score will be but with each new injury I become less confident

Re: West Ham United v Southampton Match Thread
Adrian
Rice Ogbonna Cresswell
Zabaleta Noble Kouyate Masuaku
Arnautovic Hughill Antonio
The front three accompanied by Masuaku’s pace should have enough power to scare Southampton. Especially with Noble’s passing releasing Antonio and Masuaku out wide, and Kouyate joining in randomly.
3-0 Hughill, Arnautovic, Arnautovic.
This could also easily change into different formations thanks to the returning Masuaku.
Adrian
Zabaleta Rice Ogbonna Cresswell
Noble Kouyate
Antonio Arnautovic Masuaku
Hughill
Pace, Power, and the technical ability of Noble and Arnautovic. We will miss Lanzini though.

All these line ups are great but not sure it’s going to be different to everyone behind the ball and Arnautovic isolated upfront as usual

It is a must win game but we just don't seem to every win 'must win' games. If we lose players and management will blame the atmosphere.

Re: West Ham United v Southampton Match Thread
I really believe this is a must win game. I don't think we will because lets face it after our last home game there will be so much tension around the place and I think it will filter through to the pitch. 0-2 to the Saints I think....
So, with the air of optimism my team would be as follows -
Hart
Zab Rice Ogbonna Cresswell Arthur
Cullen Noble
Antonio Arnie
Hernandez
Unfortunately must be 5 at the back or we will concede 80 goals.
For me, nothing between Hart and Adrian. I would stick with Hart because he might have something to prove after not playing for England.
I would actually drop Kouyate for Cullen at this stage, special K not really bringing much to the team at the mo and I think Cullen would be up for it. I was undecided between Mario and Cullen but I think the game would need someone who can be a little stronger in midfield. Mario in the later stages.
Antonio has to be played higher up. Him and Arnie can help carry it up the pitch.
Must play a proper striker for this one!!
Hope I am wrong and the place does not turn into a cauldron of hate and be the bouncing bubble filled bowl.......

Charlie Austin looks likely to start for them. Not good news.

If anyone scores for them, hope it is him. Followed by a finger over the mouth in the direction of Sullivan.bubbles500 wrote:Charlie Austin looks likely to start for them. Not good news.
To be completely honest, couldn't give a toss how it turns out, just want them gone.

Bus replacement service on the Southend Victoria line again FFS. Bus from Billericay to Newbury Park.
Looks like I will be driving up for this one.
