He didn't for Stoke earlier in the season

Well today's result kind of answers that question.

I can't see how Moyes should be getting too much blame. We lost Arthur for 6 games & Obiang for the season. That was pure bad luck, if not an assault, on one, stupidity on the other. It has had a negative impact.
We all know whose fault it is that half of our defense has been assembled from Age UK.
If we go down, it's entirely down to our (not so) beloved trio. Even though us fans will get the blame..
Having said all that, Moyes has got to get his tactics right for this one. For Southampton to win away at Wigan was no mean feat. Perhaps Wigan had started to think about their league position..
Soton have won just 5 to our 7 all season, scoring just 29 to our 36. They have drawn 4 more than us though & it would be tempting to expect a draw in this game. That would be less good for them than us, so we should expect that they'll be going for it.
There's no getting away from the fact that our last 3 games results have been nailed on relegation form.
Who am I kidding, our whole season has been.

Can't see anything but a big win for Soton to be honest because Hughes has a much better squad at his disposal than at Stoke. They have a lot of pace and also Gabbiadini who seems to enjoy scoring against us. Prowse is a good crosser and free kick specialist, Long, Boufal, Redmond, Bertrand are all every quick and will leave our lot struggling to catch up with them. Can only hope for a draw at most but will be pleasantly shocked if we actually win.

Having watched the game today I saw little improvement from Southampton to what I've seen (on TV) for the last couple of months. Wigan would have won easily if their front men didn't play like league 1 strikers. Oh, yes that's actually what they are. Saints front players still failed to score even from a penalty. Of course any player on a goal drought scores against us. We shouldn't lose this game but we probably will

Thing is and I hate saying it but the way Moyes sets up his teams really makes it hard for fans not to fall asleep, let a known really getting behind the team. It was the same under Big Sam, some managers just don't get it, hence the ear cupping etc. It takes the players showing some passion at the minimum for fans to get behind them, it's a 2 way street and unfortunately in the last 3 games our players haven't deserved any support. I mean how do you get behind your team when you are getting smashed by Brighton, Newcastle, Swansea and Burnley week in week out? It's up to the players in my opinion to show they are up for it and earn the crowds respect and support.

Just my opinion of course.

Fair point but I thought we played quite well in the first half against Burnley and but for some poor finishing should have been a couple of goals to the good. Then came the goal which was their first (or maybe second) attack and it all went tits up.

Why all the gloom and doom we are above Southampton the pressure is all on them ....

If our players don't realize they are looking at serious loss of income, and no more holidays in Miami should we go down, then they're feckin' stupid ... if staying in the EPL can't get them motivated what can?

If we come out firing the fans will get behind the team, we always do ... this game is ours to lose we won't ...

Happy days, really looking forward to this now, another great value day out in sunny Stratford, an underfunded squad, with a confused manager, devoid of options and tactics, an overpaid, unintelligent, demoralised, lazy squad, who are teetering, like a drunken man into the abyss, but hey at least there is the iconic, UEFA cat 4 ****hole running track to look forward to, next level, my arse, living the dream

although 'six pointers' rarely turn out to be that, there's no doubt this is a pivotal game for both clubs. A home win gives us one foot over the line an away win throws everything into the melting pot. Especially us A draw could be even more confusing as it would probably maintain the staus quo.

Our players will be ****ing petrified as Southampton start the match on the front foot and before we know it, we'll concede and that will be the cue for vitriol from the fans as they start the abuse towards Dildo Daves sitting stoney faced in the stands

His in game management (or lack of) against Burnley was as much to blame as anything that any fan did or didn't do on the day. We played well for an hour, they were not in the game at all and it was crying out for someone who could stick the ball in the net.

Had he acted first and thrown a second striker on (or better yet, started Hernandez), there is little doubt in my mind that game would have turned out very differently and we would be going into this game thinking a draw wouldn't be the worst as it keeps Southampton at bay.

Obviously it is easy with hind sight, but there were thousands of us at the game saying the same there and then. As it is, this game is now an absolutely MUST win game.

Too early to think about line ups etc, we will no doubt get 8 injuries playing against the Daggers!

Would like to see Masuaku back in though and Ideally with Lanzini, Arnautovic and Herandez all starting.

If we don't get a min of 4 points vs Stoke & Southampton, then we will 100% go down.

I think we'll beat Stoke as Lambert is an absolutely terrible manager. Can see this one finishing 1-1 & both managers being happy with the point.

Agreed, just a shame we didn't score first. You need luck in football and we sure as hell have had none for a long time.
