The sense of entitlement is strong in them.

It must be horrible watching the reigning champions and current 5th best team in the league week in week out, and only having the chance of an FA Cup win to look forward to.

That made for good reading. This quote sums them up really:

"The only saving grace I've got for this season is seeing the Philadelphia 76ers return to the NBA playoffs - sh!ts going to be exciting."

To be honest VAR shouldn't be overturning that. It wasn't 'a clear and obvious error'. That was much like an 'umpires call' in cricket as far as I am concerned.

It's the wording for VAR that causes the issue. Is it still a "clear and obvious error" if it's impossible for the ref to see?

Maybe VAR needs to also account for situations where the referee/linesmen are unsighted.

you watch the replay and the defender clearly takes out the attacker's foot.
that is a clear penalty, if it was not given it is a clear error.

if you don't think the replay shows it is a clear and obvious penalty, fair enough, it's another matter.

A great result against the rent boys in what was always going to be a hard game with the whole Butch Wilkins tribute. Against a squad of players who on paper should have battered us and with the home crowd in an emotional mood making the atmosphere tough. We struggled a lot, but if Arnie had hit that Masuaku cross (which was an incredible cross again) on the volley and took the net out, that would have shut them right up and their fragile confidence in bits. However we were poor, the stray suicidal passes from Fernandes and Masuaku were suicidal. Well we all know how the game panned out, the only point I want to make is, our shape was wrong in the beginning. It wasn't until we went to a 442 with Hernandez coming on that we looked a lot more settled. Also, Masuaku finally taking on Moses after letting him push him around all first half. After that, we were toe to toe with them. A lot of people saying Moyes got it right, I'm not so sure when Zaba and Masuaku were pushed back and every out ball in the air to Arnie was won over and over again and came straight back at us.
This was a bonus, but the game against Stoke is the one we definitely need to get right.

Felt we were only 'poor' after about 20 minutes when the quality of Hazard, Fabregas, Willian and Kante took its toll. Morita must be crap to not score every week with that lot. They should have kept Batshyuioui.

I agree, VAR would be very hard pressed to overturn that decision.
Also, if the referee had no doubts, does it even get referred?
Am not too sure how the exact VAR thing works yet.

One fatal error with this theory.
You assume that the selected replay we saw yesterday is the same one that the referee would see.
As far as I can work out, it dont work that way.
They also watch the replays in realtime, not in slow motion.
I defy anyone to see that again in realtime and claim its a clear and obvious error.

It's clear from in front of the players, a few feet away and slowed down a touch. I agree. The ref saw it at full speed, from behind and 15-20 yards away.

My point is that VAR doesn't seem to make an allowances for all those differences between what can be seen and the refs view.

(Who said stuff like VAR would ruin debate after the game? )

They summarised it well on MOTD2 last night, Arnie touched the ball away at the exact moment Kante moved his foot across, so from the refs point of view it looked like Kante won the ball.

Conclusion: impossible to to give*

Kante did not touch the ball. It also looked like he then tripped Arnie. In that sense, we should have had a penalty. However, there is no way that the Ref or a Lino could have seen those fine details, in real time.
I am not too upset that we didn't get a penalty BUT, if we were further down in the s**t & REALLY had needed those 2 extra points, I may not now be feeling quite so understanding..

Not always necessary to be in our penalty area.....a yard outside has been good enough in the past! Headbanger

Nice one…watched Final Score the other week v Southampton. Crooks actually cheered and punched the air when we scored our first…then put Jason Mohamed in his place when he kept going on about our "hooligan fans" v Burnley.

Have to say, Hart played like a world class keeper.
