You could well be right that would make sense; in form, didn't play in the World Cup and keeps continuity from last season. We are in for a tough afternoon...Cuenca 'ammer wrote:^^^^^^

Far too much negativity on this thread...
Liverpool 1 West Ham 2
(both our goals from counter attacks )

Re: Liverpool v West Ham Utd: match thread (12/8/18)
I don't see it a negative, merely realistic.
Liverpool coming off a really great season with only 3 additions 2 of whom don't need to play but will improve the midfield and Shaqiri who can play either M or F..definitely an upgrade on Solanke.
Forward line that banged in goals for fun.
Adding the first choice Brasilian goalkeeper, Man City's guy kept out of the squad by him.
Defensively looks to be their only real weakness at CB. They have added Van Dijk but I am still not certain that the other pairing(s) are that great.
We have added loads of new players, added a new manager and really don't have a settled line up especially in the CM/DM spot which was and has been arguably our worst position(s) on the field.
Their pre season included Man C. Dortmund Man U Napoli whereas ours included Wycombe, some outfit in Europe, PNE, Villa and some lower league German and French outfits. They banged in goals for fun, we struggled to put many in, 3 on one occasion.
I think if you were a bookie you would look at the above and think to yourself "Self what are the odds on West Ham getting a win here ? or a result ?"
Current odds:
Liverpool H Win 1/5 D 9/2 A Win 9/1
That's what most of us are looking at..we are hopefully all wrong..
But as my dear old dad used to say: "Son did you ever see a poor bookie ?"

Lovren is one of the best centre backs in the game Cuenca, didn't you know?Cuenca 'ammer wrote: Defensively looks to be their only real weakness at CB. They have added Van Dijk but I am still not certain that the other pairing(s) are that great.

Lovren is shyte....
I think they preferred Matip but he's injured I think......They are worse off than us in the CB dept numbers wise..
Saw Mane blow by Van Dijk in the City friendly, and as they play a high line, I would be looking to through/long balls to Anderson to see what he can do..Arnie is no slouch so also quick to him and let him bully Van Dijk...
I just don't see us competing in the midfield or our back 4 to be quite honest.....no way we go 4-3-3 or 4-2-2-2 against this lot.
4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 it has to be......
imvho

would take a draw now as most would. toughest game we could have as they attack at pace but we are a fitter and faster west ham so we have a punchers chance. hopefully catch them cold and then Adrian to the rescue showing the brazil boy how its done !

Adrian
fredericks diop ogbonna /Arthur
antonio rice noble wilshere anderson
arnautovic
subs fabianski zabaleta cresswell Balbuena obiang hernandez yarmolenko

According to this 'study', Liverpool are the 'unluckiest' team in the top flight, ( well they would be wouldn't they?) so we're bound to win.

Can't see anything other than a defeat there for us, it's possibly all a 'bit soon' with virtually a whole new team.

Remember the last season at our home? When we were on the wrong end of all sorts of decisions, we would have been placed a lot higher, possibly champions league places and a cup semi final at least. The media didn't say anything about that then though did they. The media love in for this lot is the main reason I hate all things Liverpool, plus their arrogant self entitled fans don't help either.OFT wrote:According to this 'study', Liverpool are the 'unluckiest' team in the top flight, ( well they would be wouldn't they?) so we're bound to win.

I do indeed remember it and the "you win some, lose some' argument. The whole Liverpool love in drives me to distraction.Row X wrote:

One of the great day's in following our club was when we won up there in 2015, coming out of that ground with some West Ham fans crying with tears of joy and then hearing their fans whingeing was magicalsendô wrote:I absolutely detest everything about that club.

Gerrard has already started the victim mentality at Rangers.
"It seems like the world is against us but we'll make sure we get better for that because it looks like some more decisions will go against us as the season goes on.''
