I’d rather watch a 0-0 with the teams managed by Dyche & Pullis than this Manchester City side

An away victory by 3 goals, with a clean sheet to boot.
Important, too, that it happened on the same day that Palace and Brighton won.
If Carlsberg did league victories...

West Ham were terrific today. I fancied us all week having watched Newcastle on Monday.
We are better then the bottom half.
Back four was excellent- like many I was very impressed with Cresswell.
They weren’t protected by a DM so had to win tackles and did.
Snodgrass & Anderson on the wings offered different things but terrified them.
Arnautovic & Hernandez linked up well.
Deserved win and should have been more. Only the Perez header was a clear chance for them.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd: match thread (01/12)
Not at our best today, not by a long chalk. The opening 20 minutes saw oodles of passes slightly off causing us to surrender possession cheaply.
In truth this game was way too open and we should have beaten them something like 7-5, they had loads of chances/ half chances as did we but Hernandez for his brace, and Anderson for his goal apart, the finishing today was poor.
Cresswell had his best game in a while and it was a shame to see him go off, and Diop generally played well although his habit of charging out of the backline will cost us against better strikers than Newcastle have. Fortunately Rice was alert to it and filled in behind him as necessary.
Noble did ok on his return albeit looking a touch rusty, but Arnie was for the most part poor today. He simply didn't work hard enough for most of the game.
MoTM, Anderson. He wasn't great, but we sort of played at around 85%, and he was nearer 90.Finished his goal brilliantly.

MOTD Highlights editing. Made it look like we were outplayed.

Was at Twickers today drinking beer at my seat.....but just watching MOTD. What a fantastic cross by Snodgrass for the first goal and seeing Anderson muscling off his man running towards goal was great to see as well. Well done West Ham and the travelling Hammers whose dedication was rewarded with a great result.

This. There were more highlights of our attacking in the Anderson analysis than the match itself!brothernero wrote:MOTD Highlights editing. Made it look like we were outplayed.

Yep MOTD decided to drop a few of our chances during the main highlights but then decided to use them to show how good Anderson was ????
Why not just leave all chances in the Highlights.

It’s as if they wanted to over emphasise the point of how well Benitez is doing on such a low budget from Ashley. And predictably mentioned it at the end.
Re: ⚽ Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd: match thread (01/12)
Kept on mentioning Anderson’s price tag too. They haven’t done it for any of tonight’s other goal scorers.

Didn't even show Arnie running around the keeper did they? Yet they showed a hopeful ball to Rondon that he couldn't reach and it went out of play. What bias...

To be fair though, he rightly had more coverage than any of them combinedPatito wrote:Kept on mentioning Anderson’s price tag too. They haven’t done it for any of tonight’s other goal scorers.

If, if, if only we could just keep a promising side together, keep the key players, keep a decent bench and keep a manager who looks like he can really build a side that (as someone said pages back) can switch playing styles. Arry wasn't bad in that respect. And like my dreams...I dread January

Fabianski - solid and unflustered
Zab - solid & unflustered
Diop - my man of the match, he's a very good defender at a young age. Strong, clever and technically gifted.
Balbuena - solid & unflustered
Cresswell - was playing really well until he came off- blocks, tackles and contributions going forwards
Rice - solid & unflustered
Noble - great work pressing and linking. I was shouting "you're gonna get booked" 15 seconds before he got a totally needless yellow for time wasting. Terrible for a pro with his experience.
Snodders - works hard but gives the ball away too often. The obvious loser when (if?) Lanzini returns.
Anderson - keeps getting better and better. Looks like a player you really would not want to see in the opposing team.
Arnie - bad day at the office, nothing worked, hopefully back to normal on Tuesday.
Hernandez - good movement, good awareness to stay onside, clinical finishing.
Subs:
Masuaka - OK but loses possession too often.
Ogbonna - solid & unflustered.
Dirty Jack - I'm a fan, he just looks like he's a cut above the players around him.
Newcastle - imagine how we'd feel with our owners if they also refused to spend any money ever. No ambition, no strength on the bench, no finishers, just gotta hope there are three worse teams at the end of the season.

Without a doubt. Although Zabba and Balbuana were also immense. As was Cresswell til he came off, and Rice also had another solid game.WestHamIFC wrote:Diop.
If only we can keep a consistent line up (no injuries - haha) we'll be a force.

Rice. Talent. Anderson played well. Chica doing what we know he can. Arnie unluckily and put a shift in. Great away day.
