Fabianski really had very little to do.
The Carroll chance was arguably the best one until their dodgy penalty. Good save by their keeper rather than poor finishing or anything.

I expect nothing less than 9 points from the next 3 games anything less is unacceptable

Foul on Lanzini in the box before that Carroll chance is far worse than the pen that Man City got... Lanzini stays on his feet and crosses, we get nothing.

"There were a few resigned looks on the faces of West Ham players when referee Stuart Atwell pointed to the spot then.
It was a soft penalty but is one of those big clubs tend to get and smaller clubs don't."
This quote is from Simon Stone on the BBC sport website. Says it all.

I suspect that had Lanzini gone down we'd still have got nothing, save perhaps a yellow card.

Superb solid defensive display that isn't getting anywhere near as much credit as it should be.
All I am hearing / reading is that City were not at their best, nothing about the solid display from us.
Fredericks really impressed me, walked a tight line with some full blooded challenges but got most of them spot on.
Diop and Ogbonna really had an understanding tonight too. Our line across the back was perfect. Such a shame they were all robbed of a well deserved clean sheet bonus.

Kevin De Bruyne: "I don’t think West Ham created one chance in the whole game"
Obviously forgot the Carroll volley at 0-0.

To be honest (and fair) they were all over us, all game.
BUT... we defended superbly and didn't make it easy for them in front of goal, that shouldn't be overlooked but seems to be by every media outlet.

Other than the first 5 mins when we were lucky not to be about 4-0 down. :lol:sutts07 wrote:To be honest (and fair) they were all over us, all game.

I’m fuming about that penalty decision especially as it now makes it mathematically impossible for us to win the league this season with that loss.

Whats the betting on the pundits saying it was a pen on MOTD? I'm placing bets on "it's a pen for me" and "there is slight contact so he's entitled to go down" being said.

Hard done by.
Fred, Diop and, especially, Ogbonna were excellent. Oggy gets my motm.
Impressed with Johnson too, Mahrez was bad but a part of that was the young lad, and he also was very good on the offside line that the rest of the defence have been drilled on for months of the season.
Lanzini the only class going forward, that's a good 45 minutes for him. Let's hope Arnie is recovered for the weekend.

Absolutely., it will be... 'It is a bit soft, but there is contact so the decision was right'bowltorious wrote:Whats the betting on the pundits saying it was a pen on MOTD? I'm placing bets on "it's a pen for me" and "there is slight contact so he's entitled to go down" being said.
They will totally overlook the fact Silva cut across Anderson, checked his own run and waited for the contact before falling down like he'd been poleaxed.
You can't give pens for that.

Very serious game from us.
Diop my MOTM
Honorable mention to Fredericks, Ogbonna, Obiang (who also played unnoted very well), Rice and Johnson.

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
having seen it for the first time, it wasn't a penalty in my opinion
however, Andersen was clumsy IMHO, or, if not clumsy as such, made a bad decision
Silva wasn't really going anywhere and had Rice and Ogbonna in front of him so no need for Andersen to even get involved there
