Unless some rare strain of swine flu has taken out their entire first team squad and managed to weaken some of their youngsters too... I can't see player availability being an issue for them.Westhamfan wrote:Good to hear that they have some players out/doubtful, but unfortunately not enough of them methinks.

Depends if Pep decides to go all experimental on us and decides he wants to be playing square pegs in round holes . I fancy a point if so.
Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
They might have been on the pitch for 120 minutes yesterday, but they hardly broke sweat. I think they were conserving their energy for Wednesday.
4-0 to them, but I don't see Pelle resorting to parking the bus - "think like a big team"

I think we should line up something like this:
------------------------Caballero--------------------------
Fredericks------Diop----Ogbonna-------Cresswell
------------------Noble----------Rice---------------------
Antonio----------------Lanzini---------------Anderson
------------------------Arnautovic-------------------------

Can we get a hold of Man City's chef and get him to rustle up some delicious lasagne?

Him to West Ham seems like a very obvious move now doesn't it.StevePottsGoalsReel wrote:I think we should line up something like this:

I know Caballero couldnt get on the pitch against City, but I don't think we should be helping him out.StevePottsGoalsReel wrote:I think we should line up something like this:

Quite a peculiar relationship between them and us. You'd never go as far as to say each club liked one another exactly, but there is a type of detente overall. I'd say that's unique – can't think of any other situation with us and another English club where that would be the case?
Particularly given one of the bedrock principles of supporting WHU is being able to maintain a grievance forever. Your great great grandson will be making throat slitting gestures at Reading's stadium (in space) in 2095 because Jimmy Kebe pulled his socks up.

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
Yes, of course its wishful thinking, but if certain stars did align themselves, they'd have to involve Arnautovic snapping back into the kind of form he was showing this time last year, Anderson getting the ball and forcing Walker into defence and one other player, perhaps Antonio, getting and holding onto the ball in City's half.Clacton-ammer wrote:If there is such as a good time to play Man C, this could be it, Fernandinho looks out injured, 120 minutes played (although they have a massive squad), stars are lined up a little aren't they??
Or it is just wishful thinking on my part
I fancy there might be another training ground routine in the offing, after LFC got totally bamboozled a couple of times.
Much as it might prove a sentimental lifter, for Zaba, he can't keep up with Sane (or whoever) for 90 minutes, whereas Fredericks might just have the legs to do that.
An imperious display from Declan, only serving to wind us up further for a summer of conjecture about his next club, and...
...we might only lose by 2 or 3

Tricky one this, I don't want us to help the victims , but I don't want us to lose either, so a draw would suit me fine.

Reading Pellegrini’s comments on whufc.com it would appear he’s prepared to rest Anderson as he “has Diangana”.
He wants two strong XIs this week. To me reads like resting players for Newcastle.

As for 'resting players for Newcastle' that sounds a bit Allardyce to me, and we're not in such a desperate situation. BIlic (or was it Moyes?) set up to attack there and we only narrowly lost. Think that's more Pellers' approach.

Under less popular managers, this would be interpreted as effectively admitting defeat before a balls been kicked.

In Pellers we trust.
Anderson had a bit of a quiet one against Fulham (possibly because he was being watched by someone from the Brazilian national side), and has played pretty much every game, so it makes sense to withdraw him if we go more than two down, but i'd start with he strongest team possible.

Re: ⚽ Manchester City v West Ham Utd: match thread (27/02)
I think this match could well be closer than some fear. I don't think we're going to get stuffed.
Imo, even though they won, their final might have left some hangover on them, both mentally & physically.
I don't think we'll win but wouldn't be surprised if we got a draw.
Us having played last Friday, we are going to be very fresh, energy-wise, compared to City.
If they hadn't played such a game on Sunday though, I would be definitely saying, a home win.
Should be a good game.
