Not sure how that can make this anything other than a good season - reality is we’re nowhere near the top 6 so fighting for 7th was always as good as it was going to get this year.
+30% higher this season I believe

No, this was based on the amount of points each team had accumulated after the same number of games last season. So we had 30% more points after 30 games this season to what we did last season.vietnammer wrote:Not good with stats, but is this because of the awful start?
We are 30% better off points wise even with that terrible start!
Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
Take a look at the excellent Benchmark Thread by CRFC Hammer. Lots of comparisons from last season for every team. Even has predictions based on points gained etc etc. I've lost about 3 hours on that thread!

If we can’t beat these bums we might aswell just finish the season now.

Last Summers 100m was the money they’d saved from not spending any in the previous 8 windows, we’ll have to wait another 8 years to see that sort of investment level again!S-H wrote:I don't hold much hope for it either, to be honest mate.

95m before money in from transfers don't let the razzle dazzle make you think it was more.mrbluesky wrote: Last Summers 100m was the money they’d saved from not spending any in the previous 8 windows, we’ll have to wait another 8 years to see that sort of investment level again!
And by my reckoning it was less than half the pit of money they hadn't been spending since the move.
For reference the top 11 spenders this season were(from here https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier ... bewerb/GB1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
1 Chelsea FC £189.00m
2 Liverpool FC £163.98m
3 Leicester City £103.14m
4 Wolverhampton Wanderers £101.03m
5 Fulham FC £100.80m
6 West Ham United £94.82m
7 Everton FC £89.82m
8 AFC Bournemouth £80.19m
9b Brighton & Hove Albion £77.63m
10 Manchester United £74.43m
11 Arsenal FC £73.35m
The season before we were 14th £51m but made a net profit on transfers
The season before 7th with £75m but incoming of almost half that (37)
Since moving to the toilet bowl we've spent £221.09m on 58 players and received £111.62m on 53 out going making a net of 110m over 3 seasons or a little over 36.5m a season - 9th in the league. Which could be our league position come the end of the season.
I will not accept there isn't more.to be spent in the summer.
I reckon we'll beat Huddersfield though, out big boy,.we can steam roller this crap.team nonsense only lasts a game (a woeful gut wrenching game ) and we've been good at home.

Indeed TOMOS. They will be a loss to the PL but I have got the impression that the money has been wisely used and they won’t fall off a cliff face. Hope they bounce back the stronger.
We should win handsomely so a 0:1 is perfectly possible.
Look like being wet and windy. I’ll be having an extra drink.

Jeeeesus, so in three seasons we've signed 58 players? No wonder we're so disjointed as a team some times.Graza wrote:Since moving to the toilet bowl we've spent £221.09m on 58 players
I really hope this summer is one of stability with only 2/3 new faces coming in where really needed in the squad.
As for this game - I hate ones like this. We should win, on paper and in practice - I heard this week that last season the relegated teams lost 19 games and Huddersfield have already lost 22, and only scored 15 goals in doing so. We should have more than enough to get past them...
...but it's typical West Ham that we have a defensive horror show and concede two.
An entertaining and open 2-2 draw.

Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
To add to Graza’s point - we’ve been outspent by Everton, Wolves and Bournemouth since the move and have wages below Palace and Soton. Razzle dazzle with one big summer. Wolves and Watford have had a higher turnover of players, I don’t buy the ‘we’ve had too much change angle’, if anything I think we need more to change the mentality.
In terms of today’s game - windy conditions probably not a positive for us and may help Huddersfield’s style of play. Got a feeling it’ll be a draw, but if we could get an early goal it could make a big difference. First goal very important.

Well logged into to have a read and bloody hell we are a negative bunch!!
What were people expecting from the season..?
Put it into perspective, we were NEVER going to hit top 6, and to be honest I would have been delighted with a top half finish!
We're FOUR points off 7th. Do I think we'll reach 7th..? No, due to being consistently inconsistent!
I won't go into why I think that is here, but overall the season was and has been on for transition! Last season was all about defending and nick one. This season has been pleasant to see us attack teams like Liverpool, Arsenals & United as much as they attacked us (at home).
I think we will win this one due to being at home, it is nice to feel confident in nearly every home game now after the past couple of seasons.
Few players getting too comfortable in their position, and I would have an eye on next season:
Fab
Federicks, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell
Rice Lanzini
Antonio Nasri Anderson
Arnie
Dio has done nothing wrong at all, just a rest. Think he's played every game since first few - could be wrong?
Anderson would be another I may leave on the bench, for the same reason. Mental fatigue I believe to be more detrimental than physical.
Come On You Irons!!!!!!

I'll go for a 'pass it sideways all game and not have any ideas how to penetrate their defence Lanzini and/or Anderson trying to be cute on the ball and getting upended every time and losing possession Arnie walking around like he thinks his **** doesn't stink with that shitarse look on his face and not tracking back Fabianski coming to the rescue a couple of times Snoddy putting in terrible corners and not beating the first man predictable all piss and wind powder puff 0-0 draw'

Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
Expect us to win today, but the predicted gusts of wind are gonna make it interesting and a bit fraught for defenders on both sides. A day to play the ball on the turf or the game will get scrappy. A win by any margin will do.
