It will surprise you, because if everyone stays fit it will be 0, in the League anyway.

I really do like the way Diangana plays. **** off a shovel quick, but he's also got real dribbling ability on the ball too. I've been asking for more goals from him and he finally got back on the scorehseet. He continues to get himself in the right areas of the pitch, which is why I was quietly confident he'd start scoring again.

On another note, I'm just as excited now as I was at the beginning of last season regarding seeing Yarmolenko flying down the wing towards goal.

We really are spoilt for choice on the wings these days. Goals, assists and entertainment galore!

If Diangana finds a final ball or a finish like todays on a reasonably regular basis, he'll get plenty of time.

He has pace, good movement, work rate, trickery etc. He's another one who seems to connect at a better level with a player like Anderson, primarily because of his movement. The slower, more static players don't.

Would agree that Johnson didn’t look quite as composed today as in some of the previous games. Some positive signs from him nonetheless.

They’re light years apart currently on output, but the player Diangana most resembles in his general play is Raheem Sterling. If he adds goals to his game - and it’s a huge if given he’s never been prolific even at youth level - he’ll be a formidable player.

Balbuena is overrated IMHO, but the answer is simply it is the way we play. We are very very open in the middle.
At one point Wilshire lost the ball just on the edge of the opposition box and there was not one single WHU player between him and Rice who was 40 yards further back! The defender simply passed it to a midfielder and he had 40 yards of space to run into!
It is going to be a fun ride this season, that is for sure!

We actually looked a lot tighter when we had Snodgrass and Sanchez in the middle, as at least they were getting about the pitch a bit when we didn't have the ball
It was noticeable that Sanchez was moving around the pitch a lot more rather than just sitting, i assume this was based on managerial instructions
Hes not..

Rather DIOP is overrated, I would say, as hes younger and not that matured as Balbuena.

Here are the vid of the goals today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVo0B4dyWmU

1) In the first goal from Hertha, Diop just not run enough and are NOT covering his side, as has to come Balbuena to go to ground to make the takle... let alone by Diop.

2) In the third goal is Diop again, who try to pressing and anticipate, and get caught by the gegen pass..

3) Only the second goal is actually Balbuena´s fault, as he tried to anticpate to.

Resume today: 2 DIOP mistakes vs, + 1 of Balbuena = 3 goals.

And thats why too I wanted another CB, as Diop is sometimes too young/ still not 100% prepared to the PL, imho. A good substitute, but with some things to polish..

Someone has to be devils advocat, sometimes... 8-)

The lad is good enough.
Didn’t get that impression from today’s game, thought he lost the ball a lot and was caught out of position many times, a fit Fredericks is a far better option. That’s not to say of course that a season learning from Zab will benefit them both

PS; By the way, albeit it was a good victory, (According Kicker.de and his game report: https://www.kicker.de/4598131/spielbericht) it has also to be said, that Hertha had 7 players injured.. some important actors too:

- Dedryck Boyata (thigh problems)
- Arne Maier (muscular problems)
- Their Captain Vedad Ibisevic
- Salomon Kalou
- Javairo Dilrosun
- Karim Rekik (stress control)
- and young keeper Luis Klatte.

West Ham?

Noble, Reid... ??

So, lets stay humble in the win, and proud in the fall.. :scarfer:

We’re gonna score loads this season.

We’ll concede a metric **** ton as well but that’s the rub.

Agreed, and thats a bit the Bielsa philosophy Pelle tried also to cultivate and to stick with at in some terms...

To lost 4-3 rather than 1-0...

Or, as well, to win 3-2 instead to 1-0

Attacking minded.

But...

Not worth its own thread, and so may as well drop it here,

Spurs just did a trophy ceremony and lap of honor for winning their pre season trophy. I’m sorry, but that’s some serious cringe.

Enjoyed that

Don’t think we learned anything new though.

Suspect that Pellegrini will have the defence working on their line all week - was all over the place and they didn’t defend as a unit at all. That being said - Fredericks injured, Masuaku and Balbuena late returners and didn’t play as much as you'd expect at their respective tournaments so probably not sharp yet. we’ll continue to concede goals as others have said.

Fabianski injury is a worry - saw a stat that last season he was worth 14 less goals conceded versus the league average (based on xG shots conceded). Roberto looks lacking in confidence and the defence probably pick up on that.

Another decent outing from Lanzini - needs to get that decent contract imo. Antonio more effective centrally than Chicharito, opposition targets full backs, we’re susceptible to quick counter as Declan gets out numbered.

I’d still sign Pulgar in a heartbeat personally.

He’s going to be good player that boy. A nice mix of composure and getting stuck in.

Really hope the club and the fans are patient with him.
