A couple of articles floating around that Cullen has impressed Pellegrini in training and he'll keep him.
Wouldnt be surprised to see him get some serious game time in a full strength side.

Maybe, playing devil's advocate he is also looking to keep him to boost the homegrown quota. So in effect he is just using him. As I imagine he's hardly on high wages.thejackhammer wrote:A couple of articles floating around that Cullen has impressed Pellegrini in training and he'll keep him.

The one small excuse he does have for his first half performance against Newcastle is he wasn't playing in our strongest possible team. As I mentioned in my last post I expect Pellers to use these next 3 games with the City game in mind now. So should he get any minutes he may have a chance of playing alongside more of our better players.
If he was part of a central midfield consisting of Rice and Wilshere he would have no excuses as for me those 2 are guaranteed starters when fit.
If he can't look good with players of Rice and Wilshere's ability then there is no hope for him.

Masuaku in place of Cresswell and Fredericks in place of Johnson and that's our strongest 11.
2-0 loss incoming

Presumably Lanzini out wide right with our Brazilian wizard on the left.. Fornals and Wilshere ahead of Rice?
My first 11 has Noble in for Lanzini

Fred, Ogbonna, Reid and Noble are the notable absentees.
I'm as intrigued to see Johnson start at RB as I am to see Fornals and Haller.
Johnson is a very big lad for a full back - 6'2 ish..

I'm guessing Pellers will be trying out our attacking combinations today given the bench is missing Noble, Reid and Ogbonna. The back line looks like it's composed of those defenders that missed minutes last game/this preseason(Cresswell missed a game in China, so did Diop, with Balbuena coming back in preseason).

Surely Noble has to have a knock? Can't imagine he'd be completely out of the squad otherwise. Same with Fredericks as I was expecting him to be our 1st choice right back. I do hope Reid isn't injured though! Saying that, he's bound to pick up injuries easily after being out for so long - same as Nasri did.

Will be interesting to see who's out wide right.... interesting that he opted for neither Antonio nor Yarmolenko
