Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Norwich City: Match Thread
I think Farke is this years wagner, he's just been rumbled sooner. Thought we were different class today, we looked like, well not west ham. We looked like a Carlsberg version of west ham. I am truly impressed especially by Arthur!

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Norwich City: Match Thread
Second half we were superb. First half we grew into but never fully got going.
Overall, a throughly enjoyable afternoon and a very good performance. A fairer scoreline would have been 4-0.
Ratings:
Fabianski - 6 Would love to give him higher but he had nothing to do really. Saved a few straight at him with ease.
Masuaku - 8 A couple of slight defensive slip-ups, but he linked up brilliantly with Anderson, got an assist and generally played very well.
Diop - 7 Back to his solid best.
Ogbonna - 7 Solid but unspectacular, which is fine.
Fredericks - 6 A mixed performance. Some poor crossing and defensive lapses, but some decent runs and some good covering.
Anderson - 9 If he’d scored one of his chances I’d give him a 10. Absolutely magnificent today.
Rice - 7 Typical outing for Declan, our Mr. Consistent,
Noble - 7 As with Rice, he was typical Nobes. Committed, good passing, and a leader.
Lanzini - 8 He is looking really good. Would have loved for him to have scored.
Yarmolenko - 6 Seems harsh given he scored but he looked knackered after 30 minutes and generally wasn’t very good at all in the first half, and dived around a lot. Contributed more in the first 15 mins of the second half.
Haller - 8 He is going to be handful for every defence in this league, we just need to keep feeding him and getting support up to him.
SUBS
Snodgrass - 6 Covered more effectively down the right than Yarmo did. A bit slow and has no ability to get past players but got forward and played his part.
Fornals/Sanchez - N/A not on long enough.
If our key players stay fit (big if I know) we could be in for a very exciting season.

Really not sure why Yarmolenko was MOTM. He looked very sloppy, I even said he should be subbed ( a couple of mins before his goal so what do i know).
Anderson looked class at times but appeared to have limited output from it.
I'd go Diop for MOTM. A shout to Fabianski who looked solid although there wasn't much to deal with to get MOTM.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Norwich City: Match Thread
Yarmelenko had a catastrophic injury just over a year ago. To come back from that and to score in only your second game of the year is the reason he got MOTM.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Norwich City: Match Thread
Great performance, Norwich came at us for the first 10 mins and we held tight, it didn’t look promising, but was important not to concede chances. From then on we grew into it and 5-0 would not have been harsh on Norwich.
Krul played well but Anderson should have been MotM. Outstanding, exciting, unpredictable and entertaining. Arfa not far behind. The back 4 and Rice and Noble were excellent, Norwich had been an attacking threat in all their previous games but not today. Haller impressed me, Lanzini linked well with Anderson and Arfa. Yarmy was the least impressive outfielder, nowhere near MotM as per the BBC and Sky, he had a poor first half, but his shot that hit the post and his goal in the 2nd redeemed him somewhat. But I hate shameless divers regardless of who they play for, and I hope Pellers tells him to cut it out.
Well done to the team today, a highly entertaining win.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Norwich City: Match Thread
I am always surprised why people get wound up by opposition manager comments.
Any manager is going to make comments to excuse their performance. They are hardly going to come out in the press and go we were rubbish.
Farke seems like a decent geezer to me. Doing the best for his team.
Tbf that foul by Haller probably did make a bit of a difference as the geezer was injured and then they had to bring on their 4th choice central efender

Was it a foul Crouchie, or just a hard tackle?
I was a little bit surprised (& pleased) that he didn't get a yellow for it.

Definitely a foul, I'd say.Samba wrote:Was it a foul Crouchie, or just a hard tackle?

Just one of a number of baffling decisions made by the ref today.

The Haller challenge was a yellow. Typical strikers challenge.
How Farke was moaning about VAR though im baffled as it wasn’t a red. Yarmolenko did not throw an elbow at all, he would have been better served saying VAR was useless for not giving us what probably will be the most stonewall penalty you’ll see not given this season.

As they've just said on MOTD don't complain if your injured player gets done for pace, your injured player should have been subbed.
Edit; I'm not normaly comfortable agreeing with those twots on MOTD

Even more mystifying considering the player continued to play on for an extra 15 minutes before being substituted.OFT wrote:As they've just said on MOTD don't complain if your injured player gets done for pace, your injured player should have been subbed.

Tbf I have no problemo with haller doing the foul. I have a lot of time with centre forwards being nasty ****ers.
However, I can also understand why the opposition manager would moan about it

Yeah, it's as if their manager didn't realise he was struggling until he was interviewed post match.Croydon wrote:

Anyway, as above, it was a foul and he got away without a yellow, but it ain't the reason we won no matter what Farke is implying.
