Re: Andy Carroll
Ironic that his first pre-season at Chadwell heath is when he’s off the wage bill.
I can see it now, all the clubs targets fail as we want repayments spread over 25 years, we’ll go back to him as our third choice striker.
He’ll probably score and we’ll all be saying to give him another deal.

Re: Andy Carroll
That article references how much Carroll clearly loves football. That’s enough for me to stop reading. It’s fairly well known that Carroll doesn’t like football that much.[/quote]
Absolutely. I stopped reading at that point as well. I do wish journalists would at least try to get their facts right.

Great example of online expression versus matchday reality right heresimonirons wrote:He’ll probably score and we’ll all be saying to give him another deal.
You’ve either not experienced the audible groan of his name being read out over the last two seasons in the stadium OR you need to wash your ears out

Re: Andy Carroll
I just get the vibe that the article is hagiohraphising Carroll as some sort of WHU “character” at a club which has had its fair share of characters. The likes of Dicks, Di Canio, Repka, Tevez, even Arnie all spring to mind.
The thing is, Carroll wasn’t signed for that, nor was the money paid indicative of that. What it was indicative of was major trust and faith vested in a young and well regarded England international, who would lead the line for years (and I believe our transfer policy speaks to that). Remarkably, a player who has accrued just shy of £57 Million in transfer fees (before his 25th Birthday) has been released on a free, just six months after his 30th Birthday, and has been the subject of relatively limited interest (from the point of view of the public domain). He wasn’t a coup from a transfer fee point of view, and his skills and talents are abundant.
But most fans became fed up by the end.

I would say My last couple of posts have covered all basis pretty well...
The internet: - Pay as you play deal.
Our owners: - No transfer fee.
Claret & Hugh: - After impressing at Chadwell Heath, the club are considering a 1 year deal.
The reality: - The guy was finished 2 years ago

That Boxers nose intrigues me. Why does he have that, because its not natural? I reckon he's been hit on it a few times meselfRowly wrote:

I’d imagine clubs want to see him fit and ask for sensible wages before giving him a deal.

Re: Andy Carroll
The only way he can get a premier league club is on a pay as you play contract.
Nobody would be foolish enough to give him even 25k a week on a 2 year deal ..

I reckon signing carroll - even on a £50k deal - would give the fans the hope and Bruce the breathing room he needs.BrownFatwa wrote:i give you...........Mr Steve Bruce.
If they get off to bad start it will be toxic up there *fingerscrossed*
