Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
.
Just read about Spuds new stadium. They have a completely retractable pitch with another Astro turf one underneath. We can’t even put in a few retractable seats, once again highlighting the absolute turkey we have moved into. In most businesses such a monumental blunder would see the person responsible sacked so why has Brady not only still got her job but is positively lauding it?!? You can’t knock her PR machine that turns a constant failure into a media darling and can do nothing wrong. We just wish she’d do it elsewhere.

About to leave for the toilet bowl to see the stones,
Same m o as usual, hit the tank bar at Hackney Wick for session of fine ales. Then unlike a normal home game where i head to the bowl with trepidation and despair, will be looking forward to a great gig in a stadium fit for purpose.
Will be first time i’ve been there other than to watch the mighty hammers

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
obviously there isn't much that can be done at this stage but surely they have to try and iron out some things and look for little improvements where possible.
obviously the rug needs sorting.
when you are walking over the bridge things to the stand, at least hide the view of that mangled mess of scaffolding, none of that should be visible anywhere

Given the amount of barriers that get put up at each home game, and the work that must take, can it not be possible to put a new rug down for each game? that would make a difference to the viewing ( obviously wont make the football any better )

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I'm about to depart with the missus and eldest daughter. Will take them to the delights of the Tank Bar and the German deli. It will be interesting to see the food and drink prices in the stadium today, as for our matches the contract states they have to charge a maximum of the average of top 3 London clubs prices.ironhammer58 wrote:About to leave for the toilet bowl to see the stones,

Edit. Heineken £6.50 a pint on the island!

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
My boss went to see The Rolling Stones last night at 'our' gaff last night. Said they bought tickets somewhere in the middle but couldn't see a thing so hopped forwards a few rows near the front. Still couldn't see he said. And it took him over an hour to be herded back to the station. He said he will never go to a concert there again.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I can see it being good for a concert, a mate went to see Guns & Roses there last year and said it was a good venue for that. Much better than where we stand. (He refused to attempt salting the earth to make it unplayable in as many places as possible though, bad darts)ironhammer58 wrote:About to leave for the toilet bowl to see the stones,

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
So do other large musical venues supply binoculars? Surely if you're going to see the stage at a distance then the view you have will be distant. That's the reason they put big screens up to compensate.iLoveLasagne wrote:My boss went to see The Rolling Stones last night at 'our' gaff last night. FWIW,it took me 20 mins to be 'herded' back to Hackney Wick.
If I could afford it, I'd go again tomorrow eve too!
Opinions aye?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
It was even quicker to get back to Hackney Wick station than usual last night. After waiting 2 years they've finally opened the new entrance at the weekend cutting nearly 3 minutes off the walk.

- The Southbank Centre has come to Hackney Wick in the form of a stunning new London Overground station, with vast expanses of wood shuttering concrete offset with weathering steel.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Indeed, he was talking about 'the next level' again despite claiming the last time he promised it it was merely a hope, not indeed a promise at all. This is just the sort of repetitive crap he comes out with, I think it would be far too optimistic to think that phrase was more than the usual random optimistic jumble of words he spouts ie all the right words just not necessarily in the right order.Hammerite wrote:

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Coming close to renewal time isn't it ??
You know if there REALLY was a season ticket waiting list of 50K, I would like for Gold to come out and say..
"You know what, you don't like what we're doing ? Take your season ticket and shove it up your arse. We have 50K waiting and you won't be missed. SO JUST P*SS OFF."
I think I would really have some respect for him if he did that...and wouldn't it make great talk radio !!!!!!
