Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
The statement that "the upper tier only has a life of 25 years" makes no sense in terms of modern building standards. A normal reinforced concrete structure should last much longer than that. To quote the Eurocode - Basis of Structural Design:
"...indicative design working lives for design purposes for various types of structures, as follows:
Category 1 – Temporary structures, not including structures or parts of structures that can be dismantled with a view to being re-used – 10 years
Category 2 – Replaceable structural parts, e.g. gantry girders, bearings – 10 to 25 years
Category 3 – Agricultural and similar buildings – 15 to 30 years
Category 4 – Building structures and other common structures – 50 years
Category 5 – Monumental building structures, bridges and other civil engineering structures – 100 years"
So it should be at least 50 years - where does the 25 year figure come from?

The upper tier isn't concrete. It was put up with the option to sell it on after and just leave the lower tier as an athletics stadium.
So if they were going to sell it on it must last more than 50 years.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this.
The only designed to be permanent seats at the Olympic Stadium are those that nobody actually uses.
The original lower tier.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Good point all under the scaffolding of the Lower Tier
As for the upper From 2012 BBC
The lower tier, which holds 25,000 people, is permanent, but the upper tier is temporary and its concrete and steel structure holding 55,000 seats can be dismantled.
Now its more of a temporary permanant structure as the steel work has been welding rather than bolted togther as it was and of course an extended bigger roof which has had extra supports installed.

Watching my team play ***** football and losing 3-0 at the time, I do not wish to see adverts on the screens telling me to buy West Ham nightwear for my family for Christmas. Who is responsible for such idiocy?

I should have been clearer. I don't want to see any advertising during the game. P*sses me off big time.RayleighIrons wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 6:45 pm Do you suggest that the club change advertising plans due the score on the pitch???

The terrible terrible graphic design on some of the gear is a good comical distraction though at least Johnny
Honestly some of the t-shirts they bang out make me wish I’d done something else for a living instead

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet but all the doors in gate ‘e’ were open at half time. People could wonder out get a burger and beer from the vans and come back in, no one checking tickets, in fact there was little security there maybe two or three covering 4/5 doors. I’m not sure if they put it down to no one would be stupid enough to sneak in to watch but everyone seemed a bit perplexed.

Yeah they have barriers up to stop non ticket holders from entering - or at least usually they do!
Surprised nobody has mentioned the free Wi-fi yet? It was working on Saturday.

And with a huge phone bill after listening to Mr Redcrap wittering on about he doesn't know anything about possible transfers as he leaves that all to the Chairman.
