Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I know the spivs in charge don't care whose bums are on the white seats at the Athletics bowl but are there not FA rules on segregation that mean the club have a duty of care to try and prevent this sort of thing?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Yes, and it's a condition of entry into the London Stadium as away fans in the home area would clearly breach terms 1.1, 1.2 and 18

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
It will kick off for certain. First goal they get that will be it. I can see this getting really messy.
A proper atmosphere hopefully, under the lights. Should be fun.

Those who have posted on social media should have their tickets revoked, anybody trying to gain access to the home end, who is wearing an away shirt, should be refused entry.Kialos wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:34 pm Yes, and it's a condition of entry into the London Stadium as away fans in the home area would clearly breach terms 1.1, 1.2 and 18

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Arsenal fans celebrated goals freely the other week, this will be much the same.
As said before, won't be too long before the club introduce a "neutral" zone like Fulham.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Anyone posting in that Facebook conversation that they have tickets in section 217 is pretty easy for the club to identify as they have their names and confirmation of where they have purchased tickets. Revoke the sales and point out the t&c's for the reason why. For anyone else, a largely supported club like Liverpool its easier to buy a ticket and not advertise it as Liverpool fans come from all over, not just Merseyside so the only way to stop that is to enforce a prior booking history on all sales now until the game itself but horse might have bolted on that one.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
They'll just be happy to be flogging a few extra tickets, it's win win for them, because if it kicks off it'll be seen as the horrible West Ham fans fault, and not the owners, same goes for the Sheffield Utd game on Friday, if there is any trouble after the game, involving fans staying over, the club will say, well we did offer them free coach travel.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Excellent post Wembley, thanksWembley1966 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 5:02 pm The accounts up until 31st March 2019 have just been published for E20 Stadium LLP (owners of the stadium) and it's subsidiary responsible for the day to day management and operations of the stadium - London Stadium 185 Limited. Until January 2019 LS 185 was owned by Vinci Stadium, a French company.
London Stadium 185 Limited.
The Stadium is valued by independent valuers based upon what a hypothetical purchaser would be willing to pay - including potential income over expenditure and comparisons with other European stadia. Based on all these factors the current fair value of the Stadium is £0 - zilch, nada, zero, sweet fa!
E20 also state that the concession agreement with West Ham is 'onerous'. An onerous contract is one in which the unavoidable costs of meeting the obligations under the contract exceed the economic benefits expected to be received under it. Under accounting rules you have to make a provision to meet the future obligations of such a contract. The current provision in E20's balance sheet for the costs of the rest of West Ham agreement (96 years) and UK Athletics (47 years) is £201m.
If E20 think our contract is onerous for them - then it must be favourable to us. Our lease agreement is an asset, such that it is used as part security on the loans that we get each year from Rights and Media Funding. What would be the on-going costs if we were to acquire the Stadium - even getting it for its current fair value (£0) compared to continuing with the current lease agreement.
If I understand it correctly, the taxpayer would be better off handing us the keys, plus £200m and would still be better off than running the gaff for us for the next 96 years.
How has nobody gone to jail over this ?
Even if we ignore the original construction costs, write them off as the "huge, giant Olympic party" it will cost the taxpayer some £500m to have West Ham play in Stratford over the course of the lease ( stadium conversion costs plus onerous contract).
It's insane.
Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Hypothetical question.
Won't happen (not in my lifetime anyway)
But if there was an option to walk away from the London Stadium and move to a new purpose built proper football stadium but it was based out in Essex, let's say Basildon for example would you be in favour ?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
no we are a London club
in a few years they will do a deal that will see us get the dump. then sully can flog it for his 600m and we start again with new owners/shysters ?
happy days are not ahead for a long time.
best we can hope for now is a squaring off of the ends behind the goals !

If there was an option to get out of that stadium then I’m all for it. However it would have to be in east London

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Having read Wembley's very informative post, why would anyone think the stadium could be sold for £600M? Seems like it's value to a new owner is less than zero.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
It depends on where in Essex, Romford or Dagenham would be OK, further out then no.
Remember that all (or most) of what is currently the London borough of Newham was originally in Essex.
The change in border was championed by our founder Arnold Hills. It was something to do with improved rights for his workers if they lived in London rather than outside of it.

It seems that London is always growing outwards.

So the border must have been well West of that in Hill's time.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Had a liverpool fan sat next to me at the fixture last season in 236 and took great delight in getting them turfed out when they started celebrating Mane's goal. They were absolutely everywhere then and will be even more so this time around.
For the avoidance of doubt, the club don't care who fills the bowl - as long as they are paying for a ticket, it could be Millwall fans as far as they are concerned.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Until 1965, the border between Essex and Middlesex was the River Lea. The London Stadium is just inside the Essex side.
Before then pretty much every part of today’s London belonged to a county, with the exception of the City of London and City of Westminster.
The likes of Dagenham, Ilford, Romford, etc have also been London since 1965, but the Post Office caused mass confusion by failing to give them London Postcodes!
