The poll now shows a huge swing against it seems. There maybe many interpretations but from the fact that most on kumb are not happy. Mind you I don't think that isn't a surprise purely from the majority of posts on the subjectgoa127 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 5:30 pm I might be wrong but wasn't a poll done on here a couple of seasons back and the result was roughly 1/3rd dislike, 1/3rd like, 1/3rd neutral. My memory might be incorrect on this but that pretty much ties in with people I know. The problem really is that the third of the people who dislike it REALLy dislike it

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
The word I would use to sum up the experience:
Chore
It’s a chore to go to weeknight matches whereas it used to be all we’d plan that day around, when we were at Upton Park.
It’s a chore to go on Saturdays. Honestly I never thought going to watch WHU would become a 50/50 spontaneous decision that often turns out as “f*** it I’ll watch a stream and the heatings on”, but that’s progressively happened more and more and I’ve yet to regret not going even when we’ve won.
It’s a chore to go on Sundays. Work the next day. And it’s annoying that the rest of the weekend has gone and then there’s a horrible trip to horrible Stratford and it’s like visiting a horrible relative who you just want to pop in and out to see.
It’s all just a chore. There’s no pleasant surprises or even cool stuff like pop up bars or retro memorabilia sellers - everything is clinical and the same every single time.
You can tell how bad it is when people are yammering on about going to a “spoons” - that c**** almost outdoes Sullivan

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I put the balanced view up as well , so a link to Whetstone who supports the club in everything on twitter and The Pravda website he helps run
The two polls were in 2017 , so not now and whetstones was on Twitter on his platform with his usually pro club readers, 3000 of them responded hugely against the stadium
Those polls are over 2 years ago , reflecting only at the time on a claim from the club 95% were happy with the stadium, it was done to see if 95% were as the club said happy, as was Whetstones , both votes lasted one week in 2017 and closed then

Ah, see Sully's figures were actually, 95% of the 27% were happy.
Even 5% of the 27% weren't really..

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I'm bringing family next Saturday to cup game. Looking for a pub that's ok for a pre match pint. Kids are early/late teens so not worried about language but just wondered if Carpenter's Arms was suitable and if so what is the best way to get there from Stratford station please.

If I were you mate I'd go one stop on the Overland to Hackney Wick and eat and drink around there. Get there early and there's a few choices. The Carpenters is rammed, ok for getting slaughtered but nowhere to hang around. If it's pissing down then you're also better off in the trendy warehouses.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 5:16 pm I'm bringing family next Saturday to cup game. Bring a lot of money though.

Go back that way as well. It means you skip all the queues to/from Stratford and just change lines.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Hackney Wick is our best bet with family. Carpenters is edgier and good for a sing song, but it can get a bit boisterous. Get off at Hackney Wick overground, go to one of the bars along the canal, couple of decent craft ales and some decent (if overpriced) grub.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 5:16 pm I'm bringing family next Saturday to cup game. Just out of interest, when did The Builders Arms close ?
Thats was our meeting point for the 3 seasons attending the athletics track. Felt a little bit sad on Saturday when walking past it en route to the protest. All boarded up, and mate was distraught the Pie n Mash stall out back had gone !!

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I sometimes meet with a pal and his boys before the game.
We go to Natura Pizzeria near Hackney wick which is a great place for a pizza and beers and always full of Hammers, and then have a couple of beers in one of the places on the canal or at Queens Yard, usually Bar 90 or Howling Hops.

I’m surprised at this, why would you close a pub that close to a football stadium?
