The real reason behind the move and not one done out of the kindness of the football clubs heart.
The good thing about this is that it can be relied upon to actually happen if it saves a couple of quid.

what's the appeal of a "kop" style stand anyway? loved being tucked under a low roof in the STBL, made for a great atmosphere. also meant those in the upper were twice as close to the pitch.

any dream WHU stadium should be created with the blueprint of "as many supporters as close to the pitch as possible". something like the mestalla but with a roof.

Does anyone else wish we'd bin off the trampolines behind the stands, actually put a floor there, and just let us stand and drink there instead?
They’ll get bigger with this new stand I would imagine, the whole concourse will have to be extended.

God knows what they’ll do with the roof as well, it’s bowl shaped. Will it cover the whole stand?

Good point, I believe that the roof is "meant" to cover all seats. However the roof is so high up it's kind of irrelevant as where I sit (140 near the corner flag) the first 15-20 rows get soaked when it rains

If anything (and you have to suspend any disbelief you have about the football club and how it runs fan engagement), this is a negative for the OSB as they were presented something in February 2019, sat on it and you now have to ask how were those to be affected communicated with......

Gavros (RIP) drew up plans for doing just that, that he subsequently referred to as the "Party Decks".

Very true Sanchoz.

Did the OSB share the outcome of the presentation from Arena with the wider fan base 12 months ago, and in particular those fans that will be affected by this. It wouldn't have been too hard to have the club ping an email, on behalf of the OSB, to all ST holders in those stands, would it - or in true GSB fashion, drape another plastic carrier bag over your seat with a copy of the plans in ?

That's the kind of things that fan groups "for the fans" would normally do in this kind of scenario isn't it ?

It’s mad they don’t even try to hide the crappy scaffolding you see each time you enter the stadium

I think you'll find the club prefer you to call them a UEFA Class 4 lockable plastic tethering apparatus.

Boy, based on this image, the view from the upper tiers will suck even more. Not a helpful development.

Bite the bullet. Rebuild or relocate. It's that simple.

A few things about the squared off seats.

West Ham’s OS release suggests that they paid, that it’s fulfilling a promise and that it was the OSB’s brainchild.

Every one of those claims is untrue.

The operator pays, the motive is to cut costs and only 300 seats will be closer and they will have no roof.

The bumf says that the idea is ‘that it will look better on TV’ having it squared.

The idea had nothing to do with the OSB who, as pointed out elsewhere, were told a year ago, never consulted and now eat cherry pie.

It will backfire again when reality bites.

squaring off the ends will make the stadium look worse from the upper tiers. the stadium is a mess and needs to be knocked down or dramatically redeveloped. easier to knock it down ! keep the west stand for the corporate lot and redevelop BB,BM and TB stands.would take years and we would have to ground share but could be done. personally rather we moved but it wont happen so need to buy it; new owners not this lot, and then redevelop it over a few years. how much does orient hold these days ?
we wont need a huge place for next season as we will be down in the championship !

Also I’m fairly certain that the block we are in 113/114 next to the away fans will have to be moved as we are in line with the corner flags... currently the closest points to the pitch - you can’t straighten out the corners. I bet we end up getting moved and worse seats. I imagine the lower tier away fans behind the goal will be closer and our fans on the opposite side behind the goals. But all those currently in seats close to the corner flags will be affected.

And at that end of the ground, the "closer" seats are the first few rows so those in the away end get the benefit on their side, you have the seats blocked out for the divide between home and away and then you have WHUFC fans/Newham freebie section so the amount of people who will actually benefit at that end of the ground is less.
