Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
None of this is really surprising after how he left Stoke. What p1sses me off is all the bullcrap about wanting to play at a higher level etc. China is hardly that is it?
This is blatantly about money but if the alleged rumours are true guess he needs to get a stack of money and quick. How anyone on 10s of thousands a week can get themselves into debt is beyond me.

Or 50M plus 10M as 56M doesnt bring in 50M to us....Cuenca 'ammer wrote:sutts
agreed but set a compromise and get the deal done.
what I mean is if we value him at 50M it's not really 50M is it as we have to give 6M to Stoke. ergo only 44M. if we really value him at 50M it should be 50M plus 6.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
you got it A-H
we need to figure out how much we want to get clear of the sell on - or not...
is it worth haggling.....because whatever price we negotiate - we give 20% above 20M to Stoke.
the longer it continues the worse it gets. he'll be sitting there thinking that he's closer to leaving - only to be told no you're not. we won't get a player who remains happy to be here, the longer we wait the less time we have to get a replacement.
I hope that there are behind the scenes negotiations going on to see if we can land someone.
we don't want a situation either where we talk to club "a" negotiate in good faith and then pull the plug because we can't sell Arnie. we end up with a club who is pissed off at us and a player who maybe in the summer thinks "nah they dicked me around in January." I suppose you go into negotiations telling the other club "it's all contingent on us selling player "y"."

Tbf they'd been flirting with relegation for a while, it was just a matter of time.Patito wrote:They ended up getting relegated though!
Plus, they got 4yrs from him, £20m from us + 20% sell-on.

Perhaps we should add a sell-on clause, ready for his inevitable return to one of the bigger boys in the PL/europe in the not too distant future when it it all goes from sweet to sour for him (hopefully).

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
We paid £20m for him to pretty much fire the goals in and keep us up, played at his absolute peak for the best part of a season and we will make double our money on him.westham, eggyandchips wrote: Tbf they'd been flirting with relegation for a while, it was just a matter of time.

I think we did better out of it, considering we did stay up and Stoke look resigned to being a Championship team for the forseeable future.
Shame he's a money grabbing **** but wouldn't expect anything less from him, he has always been selfish and comes across wanting to be the important player we have, and he's not anymore.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
Jacob Steinberg tweeted that the new bid is €40m. Again, not enough, but wouldn’t be surprised if we end up accepting less because of his actions.

Guangzhou Evergrande have made a new €40m offer for Marko Arnautovic after today’s events. Whether that’s enough to get him out of West Ham remains to be seen. #whufc

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
we never seem to be in a strong enough position to get the best price for any of our players , we will settle for £ 40-42 million imo

I want the f*cker gone but 40m Euros is a joke. 50m Pounds, no less.il_martello_di_genovesi wrote:Jacob Steinberg tweeted that the new bid is €40m. Again, not enough, but wouldn’t be surprised if we end up accepting less because of his actions.

They can easily afford £50 million. No way should we settle for any less.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
Here’s a hypothesis.
The board is absolutely correct to hold out for a larger sum than 35M and let the buying club and Arnie sort it out between themselves, as follows:
1. We value Arnie at 50M. They offer and cap at 35M. The differential is 15M to us and 30M to them after the 100% tax they must pay.
2. Assuming they were offering 300K a week to Arnie and are not willing to go above 35M in transfer fee, the balance of 30M in transfer fee (to the Chinese club) can be funded out of their wage deal with Arnie. A reduction of 140K a week for a 4 year contract would fund the gap of 30M, leaving Arnie with a wage of 160K a week tax free. This would still be more than 3 times his current wage after tax.
In other words, WHFC and the Chinese club could in theory let Annie (offer to) fund the deal from his offered wage knowing that it would still makes financial sense for him to go rather than stay. The board presummably has done their sums and knows this. Bluff called. Arnie is probably sulking because of this.

Re: Marko Arnautovic Signs
I agree. Other clubs play hard ball with us and we should too. We've been too soft in the past letting other clubs f*** us over for our players, so let this set a precedent, £50m is our price, so don't contact us again, unless you are prepared to meet our valuationjohnnyb wrote:
