That interview should put the notion of where his interests/thoughts are at the moment.

Brilliant :)

Looks like he has a bit of the "iron fist in a velvet glove" about him.
I hope he deals with GSB in the same way.

"Iron fist in a velvet glove" sounds like something they'd either put on DVD or sell in the specialist section of the club shop

Yes the latex Nigel Quashie is just one shelf below the Andy Carroll 6 inch rubber Xbox Thumbs.

I am surprised that they havent opened an Ann Summers franchise within the store. They could use the strap line " Get F***ed both in and out of the stadium."

A fairly lengthy profile in The Independent looking back over his whole career

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foo ... 90166.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Two parts jump out
When asked whether David Sullivan could be like an English Fernando Roig, Pellegrini spoke warmly about their relationship. And the role that he has been given to imprint a playing style on one that has lacked one for years. “No, I don’t think they [Sullivan and Roig] are exactly the same. They have other personalities. But the year I have worked here with David Sullivan, I have not had any problems. I spoke with him long before we signed a contract, he told me what he wanted to do with this club. One of things he wanted to do was to grow as a club. He wants to rest a little bit from working with the players and the squad, so he asked me for a sporting director. [West Ham appointed Pellegrini’s old friend Mario Husillos last June]. I told him the way I like to work, he agreed with me. We are not going to have any problems.”
Must be exhausting continously keeping his story straight on whether he does or doesn't have anything to do with selecting players.

And reasons for optimism next season:
Pellegrini sounds like a man who would desperately love a Riquelme or Silva or Isco or Santi Cazorla or Andres D’Alessandro in his West Ham team, even if he does not want to say so. He points out that West Ham do in fact have four playmakers, Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere, Andrei Yarmolenko and now Samir Nasri. The four of them have started a combined 11 Premier League games all season. Only then will we see something close to Pellegrini football here in east London, after a first season of trying to set standards and expand minds. “Those players make a difference especially for the strikers. When you don’t have them, you must try to find another way of playing. But we have playmakers here, and I hope some day we are going to see all of them playing together.”
Incredible really.

On top of everything positive he's trying to do here, I absolutely love the fact that he isn't afraid to give the youth a chance.

A proper manager.

An interesting choice of priorities from Pellegrini...
“The next step is to try to bring in the most amount of young players that we can so we continue having a very good young development squad, and after that to try to reach the top six in the Premier League.

Love the mentality of the bloke. Found it interesting he said we need to continue improving the training ground, bet he thought it was an absolute dive when he first walked in.

The club has been relatively more professional this season, and I honestly think the majority of that is to do with a no-nonsense world class manager at the helm. Long may it continue.

Let's assume that we all agree that replacing Moyes with Pellegrini was a positive step in the right direction for the club.

What could Pellegrini do to avoid falling into the same trap as Sam and Bilic, in his second and third seasons?

The way I see it, Gold and Sullivan have landed the right person to replace his predecessor, in choosing everyone since turning to Sam after the fiasco of uncle Avram, but none has really built on a decent first season.

Is it in Pellers' reach, to actually take us next level? Or will the goblins always have hold of our ankles, dragging us into safe, pop-corned, mediocrity?

Keep their gobs shut, the chequebook open, and let Pellegrini do his job.

That's all they need to do.

Pretty much, the only doubt really is how much they open the chequebook, they are not exactly made of money as some of the other owners in the PL.

I think we have reached another level (for us, taking in the last few managers), we have a style back, football is sexier, youth getting more of a chance, only way I see it we can realistically break into the top 6 is that our youth excel with a few clever additions (see above about how much we can realistically spend). Most importantly though is that they leave the football decisions to Pellers & his team, they do the last bit and we will continue to improve.

This is the myth that they'd like us to keep believing... "we aren't in the same bracket as oligarchs and oil sheiks" - but really very few are.

What they need to do is invest the FULL club income back into the team and infrastructure such as training and academy. The income is more than adequate if they did that and stopped taking the ****ing interest repayments.
