It won’t be Rafa unless he gets the sack. We simply cannot afford him.
And if he does get the sack, alarm bells should be ringing.
Biesla is the man.

That he might be, but he isn't coming here. No chance.

I don’t agree, his character I doubt has changed much and he seems a fairly laid back, unflappable guy, however the over the hill, too old, past it comments are out of order in my view.jacko wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:16 am hmm, i don't know. Does he really have the energy compared to what he might have had 20 years ago. He has a lot of money. I think managers lose the hunger. That's not necessarily about age but maybe how comfortable they are in life. I can't see him taking another job when he eventually leaves us which says a lot in itself.
My old man is older than Pellers and if I said to him any of the above he’d tell me where to go.
Tactical issues, decision making etc, all fair things to have a pop at

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
Pellegrini is a here and now manager, he isn't building anything for 3 years and all his remit is to get results, if we aren't getting them then he deserves to go.
I think where the age thing bothers me is that to him we are just another job and with most of his career behind not in front of him then I doubt he sees the job here little different to one he had in China, just doing it for the money and if isn't working then he will start looking for a way out to a more relaxing life, I doubt many of us at his stage of life would react much differently.
Pellegrini 20 years younger would probably be approaching this much differently knowing failure here could terminally affect his career and I am pretty confident he would have turned things around but equally I doubt such a manager would ever be at the club with our owners.
Rather than constantly hiring managers who have a short shelf life, wouldn't it be wonderful if we had owners who had the vision to try and employ managers who actually have most of their careers in front of them who not only have the motivation to make West Ham a success but their own careers too, the next young Jurgen Klopp has to start somewhere at this level so why not us for once but the sad thing is I doubt with our owners we are even looking.

Yet they're still above us in the league. Maybe it's an indication that what really matters is 'how' rather than 'how much'.

slav might not have been on klopp's level (though he did get the better of him both times at the boleyn), but he was all the other things you were asking for, which gave the owners every opportunity to take the piss and make him responsible for their failures as soon as things go tits up.Dwight1970 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:38 pm the next young Jurgen Klopp has to start somewhere at this level so why not us for once but the said thing is I doubt with our owners we are even looking.
no one will ever be given the time to build a project under these owners. they'll have one half decent fund to get them going then will be systematically dismantled, usually starting with a failure to back up on their initial investment in the second summer.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
MPs biggest failure, is sticking with the same formation, even when he hasn't got the players who are good enough to play it. We lack pace & fitness and don't seem to be able to push youngsters forward into the first team. This may partly be due to what was in place when he arrived, but he has had the money and time to turn things around. The buck has to stop somewhere, the only question in my mind is is this the right time to make the chop or do we wait until the end of the season and then appoint based upon where we end up. In some ways building from below, as horrible as it is to consider might actually be for the better. The last 2 seasons having a run of a few wins against mediocre teams, which is what most of the league are, just gives false hope for the following season and brainless predictions of top 6, when we have only purchased unproven players at this level to add to an average squad.
If we do want to guarantee we stay up and we don't perform miracles in the Jan transfer market, we need to play 5 and the back go solid and see where it takes us. All the while we play a back four, who struggle to defend, whoever gets picked we are potential fodder for any teams with pace or are just physical and better organised/motivated than we are.
If/when he does go, we need to make sure whoever comes in sets up all of the teams to play the same way, so that we have players who can step up when required.

When we appointed him I said then I would have preferred a younger manager.Ozza wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:35 pm I don’t agree, his character I doubt has changed much and he seems a fairly laid back, unflappable guy, however the over the hill, too old, past it comments are out of order in my view.

I don't dispute his reputation or character.
If we had got him out of contract having left a decent European team it would have been one thing, getting him on the back of a mediocre job in China said to me at the time that he is past his best as better clubs than us could have had a chance to take him, but chose not to.
The idiots in charge threw a lot of money his way and he couldn't believe his luck. He thought he could just carry on doing what he had done with far better resources than he has here.
It isn't working and he doesn't show any signs of turning it around. I actually hope he does, but I don't see it happening.
I'm only a few years younger than him, so I can see why the issue of his age would be raised.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
A decent manager is a decent manager irrespective of who they supported as a boy or played for. Thats why I dont get the call for the Cowleys, Howe with Jason T, or Scott Parker primarily on their West Ham connections. Make no mistake the Cowleys direct brand of football is not based on the West Ham way that is for sure. Parker's Fulham though play with style and Jamie O'Hara was raving about his leadership qualities and charisma this week, so maybe one day. I expect he would want to take them up first though.
Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
MP seems to have no idea tactically. He said prior to game with Sheff Utd that they played direct Championship football which everyone else knows they don't. Played OAP Zabaletta ahead of our quickest defender against Newcastle who have arguably the quickest front line in the league. And last night should have played Arthur left wing to help Cresswell out with Traore who ripped us a new one in the first half. Whoever we employ to scout future opposition is either very bad at the their job or MP is too arrogant to listen.
Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
And his comments post match that we dominated the second half was reminiscent of BFS claiming we created loads of chances after games where we simply hadn't,

I think our next DoF appointment is much more important than the next managerial appointment.

Dirty Old Fokkker? I thought Sully has already filled that position. (oo-err missus)
Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
It's about creating a 'whole' that's greater than the sum of it's parts. Woy got Fulham to a Uefa cup final beating Juventus en route, punching way above their weight. I went to quite a few of the games and they played decent, entertaining football.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:40 pm Yet they're still above us in the league. All top managers do it, Ferguson did and now Klopp is at Liverpool.
Is Pelle galvanizing the individual components of the squad into a tactically well drilled and fully committed team, that believes it's going to win every game by working hard and adhering to the system that's he's ingrained into them.
Results suggest otherwise.

If you don't see or hear what happens behind the scenes, how do you know they've interfered this time ?Ingwe wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:03 pm If you think it's all the manager's fault, you're misguided. The problem is much deeper rooted and the fault lies firmly with the owners.
The owners interfere with every manager, director of football or whatever else you call them. We don't see or hear what really happens behind the scenes.
The evidence shows they have tried and bought the players he wants and brought in and the DOF that Pellegrini requested. Other than that I have no other info that suggest intentionally scuppering the manager ?
I get that people don't like the owners, but they shipped out Bilic and Moyes based on results and style, got in a manager with a pedigree for both reputation and style of football. They have managed to break transfer records on a number of his signings and shipped out some old stagers and donkeys at the new managers request and knowledge that he is working under a budget. Yes we've bought some **** but it was common acceptance that the squad is in healthier state than say 2 seasons ago barring some obvious oversight. Those oversights are the managers, surely !!!
