Manuel Pellegrini: West Ham United’s 17th manager

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
Can we call him ’Pells’ on here? I quite like that.
Good appointment, he’ll get my full support, let’s hope the Goblins will give him a bit of money to play with because I think he’s got a good eye for picking a player.
Not 100% sure what to expect but the man’s got good pedigree. Which is probably quite exciting in itself.

Good luck to you Sir. Have the board told you that your wages and sign-on are coming out of the transfer kitty yet?

Now you know how Pellegrini won the title for City with Hart in goalDeepster wrote:Made up with this, but just an observation, neither of them have a reflection in the mirror

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
.
Regardless of his age, poor work in China and extortionate salary, he’s definitely an upgrade on Moyes. Can’t knock Sully for putting his hand in his pocket (must have really hurt) but as usual he’ll have an alternative motive. He doesn’t spend anything unless there’s an earner in it for him. I suspect, as has previously been suggested, that he wanted a big name to attract buyers. Also I doubt if the salary is £10m without clauses, Sully just can’t help himself, probably £7m with a top table finish bonus of £3m.
However unless we get Sully out of the transfer choice loop, it will be much of the same old bottom half but a little easier to watch. Media suggests the recent DOF interest from the board has been put on hold. We’re not out of the woods yet.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
I wish him all the luck in the world, working for the worst employers in football is a brave move.
However I can't get excited, I was more excited when Slaven was appointed.
All I ask is that he is someone who stands up to the board.
I am concerned about his age and language skills, but supporting this heap for 47 years makes me a bit
pessimistic.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
great appointment, well happy with this
But this is only the first step, now for the real work, bringing in the players the manager feels is needed to take us on. IF he's backed we could have a few very exciting seasons ahead of us.... IF

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
I come on this forum and moan and complain and drone on more often than not & I hated last season more than any I can remember & even after we avoided relegation, I had a nightmare feeling that Moyes would stay on and I'd have to moan and complain and drone on even more
But the signing of Pellegrini fills me with absolute joy. A proper manager with real knowledge of the game and contacts like no one else in football. And , by all accounts a very nice and honourable man. I'm absolutely delighted, not only with the choice of manager, but also the timing. The club has moved swiftly and quietly to have him in place almost a full 3 months before the next season starts.
I'm not naive enough to think that it's gonna be a nailed on guaranteed success, but the intent and the message is absolutely spot on, and the Daves have to be congratulated for the way they've pulled this off
So pleased that I'm gonna use an emoji I've had to neglect for a year or so

Credit where credit is due this is a fantastic appointment, well done WHU. A move in the right direction towards the next level!
Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
That didn’t work out well for the last 3, but I’d like to think (hopefully not naively) a man of his record and command would hold more sway.comebackjoecole wrote:All I ask is that he is someone who stands up to the board.
Give it a week
“Senor Dave, the £100 million you promised me, we have managed to negotiate a fantastic deal with Inter to bring Icardi in for £20 million”
“Manny, calm down my friend, you already have Hernandez, Hugill and Carroll plus Dave Jr. is willing to step in if they get injured. Let’s see how we are on transfer deadline day and what loans we can get in!”

Massive upgrade to pretty much everyone we've had in the last 20 years or so...
I just hope they give him the funds needed.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
Completely ambivalent to the appointment tbh.
I think it is a case that the years since leaving The Boleyn has seen me dislike so much about our club that I just can't get excited about things right now. This is combined with the nagging doubt that no matter how much Pellegrini will want to achieve he will be knee capped by G,S & B on a regular basis.
Good luck Manuel, please try and help me find the love for the club again.

How dare you... Avram’s record spoke for itself!Antwerp_Lad wrote:Massive upgrade to pretty much everyone we've had in the last 20 years or so...

That was our ex-Chelsea phase, now we’re in our ex-Man City phase! Hopefully good times ahead and I completely agree - it’s a very big upgrade and a positive step
