From Brazil: West Ham had €18m bid for defender Gustavo Gómez (Paraguay) rejected:
By Lucas Sposito - 9th October 2019
West Ham United have reportedly made an attempt to sign the Palmeiras defender Gustavo Gomez in the summer.
The information is brought today by journalist Jorge Nicola. On his Yahoo blog, he says the Brazilian club rejected two offers for the player.
It’s claimed that one of these bids came from the Hammers, who wanted to pay €18m for the signing. The other one was made by Mexican side Monterey, who offered €15m.
Palmeiras recently used their buying option to sign Gomez from Milan in a €6m deal, so accepting West Ham’s offer would mean a big and quick profit for the club.
However, the São Paulo side believed they could fight for big titles this year, and decided to keep the player. The plan didn’t work out very well, since they’ve now been eliminated from the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Libertadores.
This isn’t the first time Gustavo Gomez is linked to a London side, as in the summer, Crystal Palace (as Lazio and Boca Juniors were are keen of him too) were said to be scouting him as well.

Thats a nice one.
I was raving all over the place then, as the Paraguay National team defended that well and astonishlly in their game against Brazil in the last Copa América this summer.. and this guy was a Colossus of a defender... Somekind of Balbuena style, but twice more bossy and better, imho.
So, its nice to see that Husillos and Pelle see some football there the way a normal fan there see it. He was, also in my team of the whole Copa America
A signal we are in the right path..
PS; Fo the one who do not know the player:
