This is excellent from a bloke who knows his stuff. He is the guy who exposed the OwnaFC fiasco.

For each of its clubs, Socios plans to issue different numbers of voting tokens – the bigger the club, the more tokens will be available. In the case of West Ham – which should launch in the next few months – it plans to price the tokens at £1 and give existing season ticket holders and members a free token each. Given there are about 50,000 STHs and another 30,000 members, that’s 80,000 plus people who will soon be able to have their say on club matters.

Unfortunately for the world’s 80,000 most loyal Hammers, Socios are issuing 45,500,000 West Ham tokens. In other words, just 0.2% of the total number of voting tokens are being given away free to the kind of West Ham fans who regularly attend games.

Great Article by Martin Calladine, I'll have t buy the book. The bit i thought best summed up this Socios fiasco was: 'If they really wanted to, clubs could easily survey fans for free – by email or SMS, or by incorporating voting into their own club apps. That would actually reward those fans who do more than simply ‘read or talk about the club regularly. But that aim here isn’t engagement, it’s monetisation. It’s about new things to sell or new ways to charge for what was previously free'.

Live webtalk from the owner of socios.com and its crypto currency:

Also:

CHILIZ LAUNCH CHILIZ.NET — WORLD’S FIRST CRYPTO EXCHANGE FOR SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT
In launching Chiliz.net, Fan Tokens for Juventus ($JUV), Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG), Atlético de Madrid ($ATM), A.S. Roma ($ASR), Galatasaray ($GAL) and West Ham United ($WHU) will be available on Chiliz.net to buy and/or sell from the end of February, as well as available to purchase on Socios.com. Fan Tokens for esports giants OG ($OG) will be available from March. All Fan Token trading is paired against Chiliz $CHZ. The exchange features traditional crypto pairs such as BTC/USDT and more, with more to come to bring liquidity.

Chiliz.net will be fully integrated with Socios.com, meaning that Fan Tokens currently held in a Socios wallet can be transferred out. Any Fan Tokens bought on Chiliz.net can also be transferred in.

Each Socios.com partner club is committed to actively promoting their Fan Tokens across their own channels, with marketing activities to include high-profile social media campaigns, featuring first team players.
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO & Founder of Chiliz & Socios.com said: “We’re really excited to finally reveal the plans for Chiliz.net, the world’s first crypto exchange for sports & entertainment. Since minting the first Fan Tokens and launching Socios.com in 2019, the ability to trade Fan Tokens has been frequently requested by our fans and followers as well as our Token holders.

“For Chiliz.net, we’ve used state-of-the-art software to launch a desktop and mobile platform that facilitates the 24/7 trading of digital assets from some of the biggest sporting brands in the world — Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico de Madrid and Galatasaray to name but a few.

“This will be the first crypto exchange that doesn’t focus on traditional crypto products, which means we’re also not in competition with the big crypto exchanges. In launching our own niche exchange, where only Fan Tokens can be traded, we’re also opening a new narrative for media — seeing an instantly recognisable ticker symbol in the exchange and tracking the changes in the index ranking of each team’s crypto asset.”

Old boss of mine had a couple of those. Not even worth a couple of pence. Worth of the Socios.com cyrpto currency at the moment though is still down on its launch value:
Chiliz Price $0.007397 USD
Chiliz ROI -65.59%

Nothing from the club.
Nothing from the OSB.
It's almost like they don't care about how the fans feel.

There was a multi group protest when this was first on the agenda.

There needs to be fans action comprising all the original groups at the time of launch.

Hammers United are working hard on the static protest, perhaps WHUISA can take the lead.

This is another chance to protest and no one can dismiss it as just a group of fans unhappy with results on the pitch. I hope the opportunity is not lost.

Live webtalk from the owner of socios.com and its crypto currency:

The write up:
Chiliz.net is a first-of-its-kind crypto exchange for sports & entertainment products. Available now on desktop, iOS and Android, a full launch will follow next month when the Fan Token Offerings (FTO™) for all the Socios.com partner teams begin.

Fan Tokens for Juventus ($JUV), Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG), Atlético de Madrid ($ATM), A.S. Roma ($ASR), Galatasaray ($GAL) and West Ham United ($WHU) will be available on Chiliz.net to buy and/or sell from the end of February, as well as available to purchase on Socios.com. Fan Tokens for esports giants OG ($OG) will be available from March. All Fan Token trading is paired against $CHZ. The exchange features traditional crypto pairs such as BTC/USDT and more, with more to come to bring liquidity.
Anyone will be able to then buy and trade the West Ham United based fan token. The fan token gives you voting rights on polls relating o that football club so anyone, anywhere, regardless of who they support can easily own West Ham based voting rights.
we are exploring the tokenization of rewards & unique experiences, with purchases again pegged in $CHZ. We want fans to be able to purchase such tokens and make them fully tradeable in an open marketplace and we’ve got exciting ideas on how to leverage this for both crypto and sports communities.
If I am reading this right, socios.com are looking at an idea where you purchase their tokens and their cyrpto currency so you can buy/trade for things like signed shirts or player meet and greets.
While social media forums, message boards and the like will continue to be subjected to trolling and other unwanted intrusions, our chat function in Socios.com will be the exclusive preserve of Fan Token holders. That means token holders will be able to chat with one another in secure forums, confident they are engaging with real fans.
Bless.

Anyone who pays a penny towards this must have zero idea about how this club operates anyway.

The owners don’t listen or understand the fanbase and some digital dosh isn’t going to change that.

So it will be absolute nonsense like voting on man of the match, third shirt colours and mug designs to sell in the shop.

Still unbelievably offensive considering we’re one of only 2 clubs without a recognised independent supporters group and the current direction of the clubs fanbase.

I think you've just answered your own question there as to why there isn't an independent supporters group - it really wouldn't work with the monetisation of having a say in how the club is run.

We're a fuckin' circus. A huge money spinning ponzi scheme that exploits the loyalty of fans. We must be fuckin' mad.

I think this thread needs to be more visible, maybe merged with the protest thread?
Some of us older supporters don't really understand crypto currency etc etc.
I can see it's somewhere between pyramid selling & buying magic beans.
I can also see that it's another GSB rip off :thdn:

There is something truly sad about the fact that this is the only thing we are standing alongside the “big boys” of European Football with. It would be a lot nice if we were on the same level as them in the Champions League. Supporters Club membership or Season Ticket ownership should be enough to get a say in these matters.

Madrid
Turin
Paris
Istanbul
Rome
London
and now Buenos Aires

That to me stick's out more then who exactly they have signed up. Show how the model works to exploit and monetize having an opinion by signing up teams based in major cities, allow others around the world to trade and speculate on an unregulated online currency, based upon the teams performance, make an undisclosed amount of money for the people behind this scheme and the teams signed up to it.

Anyone who signs up to this is an absolute mug and when you lose your money I will have no sympathy whatsoever.

They really are taking us for mugs.

When you look at the famous Panorama episode about Millwall in the 1970s there is a moment where Gordon
Jago is standing in the centre circle having a calm and reasonable discussion with people who attend games.

The idea that “having your say” can be converted into crypto is the most “modern football” thing I can think of.

Totally agree Heysel, this is something the press would be interested in, but its buried in all the other crap. Its another stick to beat them with, and to show the outside world how truly vulgar these people are. This protest movement aint West Ham fans moaning about results, those results are just a reflection of how the club is being taken advantage of. They are taking the ****ing piss out of us :fsake:
