A heartfelt request

Post by hammer_sandwich » Wed May 15, 2019 10:18 am

Hi fellow hammers, I’m looking for some help with a heartfelt request. My father, Tony Rivers produced the I’m forever blowing bubbles record that you have heard for about 40 years every time the players come out. A lifelong hammer who first went in 1950. He was good friends with many of the players. My dad is now in his 70’s and we live in Spain. My mum passed away four weeks ago and my Dad(or I) have never been to the new ground. I would desperately like to write to the club to see if they would invite him to the ground. Times moving on and it is my ambition to make this happen. Does anyone have any suggestions as to who I should email at the club to see if I can make this dream happen? Thanks ⚒ (ps he was paid £50 and never made a penny since but it has nothing to do with money)

"Rivers sang on the 2005 Saint Etienne album, Tales from Turnpike House, performing harmonies with his son Anthony Rivers."

What a great story , a lovely story .

I can't advise you as such - my first thought was to send it directly to David Sullivan but it would probably be tossed in the bin thinking it was another ' Sullivan Out ! ' letter .

Hammers United recently wrote to West Ham - took around 3 months to get a reply but they did get a reply . I'd send a letter by recorded delivery to Tara Warren - she's the human face of West Ham .

Good Luck , mate .

I can’t say too much at the moment other than Tara Warren emailed me back within ten seconds and David Sullivan sent me two personal emails within 5 minutes.

Hope it works out mate - he's a terrific singer, remember him doing concerts with Cockney Rebel.

Condolences on your loss too.

Are they offering to sell you seats in The Boleyn Lounge on a three year deal with access to away tickets?

No, but an additional 10% off away shirts...

Seriously, fair play for them getting back to you so quickly and hope you get sorted out :crest:
